MemberI really love the Tokina 12-24 F4 also. It is around the 500 mark, but it is a fantastic lens , very sharp.

MemberGreat game as OU pulled it off. Tennessee , well it was bad, and Alabama put it on Florida
I say Alabama goes to the championship game, for sure.

Memberthe computer that we are all reading this thread on has changed the retail business forever. I mean come on, who has not bought something online. I try to keep it local if possible, but it costs money to have a brick and mortar retail outlet, and prices reflect that sometimes. I also have a hard time staying local when so many places don’t stock a lot of the new inventory and when you ask about it they say I can order that for you. WOW, thanks but I can order it myself for a much cheaper price. I am mostly hands on, if you have it where I can look at it in person, I will buy it, even at a higher price but if you have to order it, forget it. I think if they could figure a way to tax all internet sales (it’s coming in time) it would help local business some because that is 10% right there and throw in free shipping and you have a pretty good deal.

MemberI also understand that it is a business decision , but also know that there are 2 kinds of decisions, good ones, and bad ones and this falls to the latter as far as I am concerned. I would say that if Sage or any one company will keep the same policy as always, they will take over the market. I think that would be a smart choice !!!!

Memberatleast wages are going up at that rate also 🙁

MemberWow, that is bad news. I take good care of my equipment and infact have 3 orvis 5 wts that are 12 years old and have never been repaired. I also bought a pile of T3 and Helios last year and had some repaired over and over before giving up on them and switching to Sage. I have had clients snap a brand new rod (on a fish) the very first time out of the tube, but I can assure the manufacturers of one thing, if the warranty program gets sketchy, I will never put premium gear in the hands of a client again. I also will say that lots of times clients like the gear they use with us and in turn they go out and buy that same product. I guess the prices will be dripping also since you have no insurance so to speak ::)

MemberI will be using it on a couple different bodies.
I already have the 70 200 2.8.
My main body for baseball games will be the 1d Mark iiN (until I get the mark III) I have seen the 400 5.6 in action and it is a great piece of glass for sure, just thought I would check around and get some opinions before I buy. I am also very interested in the 500 F4, there again, wanted to hear from somebody besides the other photographers at the ballgames who want to sell a 500 f4 :).jarrod white
MemberI have a couple of the CC pro 1 series rods and they are an amazing piece of equipment.

Memberthanks for that info Steve K., I really wasn’t sure what they were checking for, and usually too mad to ask.
I also noticed that when I switched my suitcase out for a large Pelican case, just for clothing etc., it has a TSA paper in it everytime saying it was inspected. I would think that when it runs down the belt an Xray looks through it, it should be fine it only contains my clothing.; :-/jarrod white
MemberI know the feeling as traveling with a rock band has its problems. I hae 2 pelican style cases with a ton of equipment, and I have been checked numerous times by the TSA. although we do fly mostly private now, on occasion I fly alone to meet up and the last time I did that I got checked so hard I felt like a criminal. I will also say that they are very rough handling your gear and I have seen stuff dropped and the last time I got checked they pulled everything out of the cases and wiped it down with some type of a wet wipe looking thing and ran it through a machine :-[ and when they were finished all my gear was laying eveywhere and he said ok you are free to go. >:( 20 minutes worth of packing back up and I was on my way. I guess I looked like a criminal trying to move about rom state to state 😉

MemberWell I guess I had trouble making the original choice and I went with the 50d (which is an amazing camera) and today I picked up the 7d so now I guess I can shoot both and decide which is the best. I promise it would be tough to choose either as they are both great.
Now which lens to get next 😛jarrod white
Memberpicked up the 70 200 L 2.8 today and I love it already.
jarrod white
MemberI went with the 50d since I am just switching from Sony to Canon, I am learning about the system. I bought the body and 24/70 L
I am going to buy the 70 200 2.8 L II and the 100mm L macro and the 17-40L f4. for starters I’m sure. i would love suggestions on other good glass to hink about also.jarrod white
MemberMoney is not the deciding factor in this choice, but I have an incredible video camera that I doubt the 7d can compare to. I just dont see myself using that feature and I don’t think I want to go full frame either, so that only leaves 1 option and I guess it will be the 50 d.

Memberthey have taken the course and certified as a “captain” by the US Coast Guard standards.

MemberI fished Orvis rods for years and I found the tip flex rods like to be overlined by one size. Mid-flex rods do well with the heavier lines like a gpx taper. T-3 is probably one of the better rods Orvis had, and when they discontinued them I moved on. I did try the Helios :-X

MemberWow, it is amazing to me how opinions vary, and some take offense if others don’t agree. Oh well, I row a Hyde and it’s not wood or plastic, nor is it a “Guide” model but it floats pretty well. :-/
