Just noticed they’re made by Ortlieb, I have seen some of their gear here so there might be one in the shops.
I’ll tell you what, the day I find the perfect waterproof pack for camera gear, I will probably have to retire.. 😀

It depends.
Can you edit an image ?
Some of the mags I deal with want raws because some photographers have no idea how to do a good grade on a photo and have no understanding of how ink hits the page – they may also want to fit images from different photographers into the same spread and need them to match up.
If you send them a Jpeg that’s over sharpened, over saturated, blacks pumped to the limit and vignettes from one end to the other you might be creating a lot of work for the art director in fixing your ‘work’.
In my experience, art directors think it’s their job to put the photos on the page and it’s the photographers job to hand them over so they can get on with it – that said there has been some change in how they want photos presented and clients differ in what they want.
Ad agency’s for example now seem to ask for a fully graded & re-touched tiff AND the raw..
My view has always been to give them what they want so I get the work (and my wife gets the money ;D) – none of them seem to have time to argue with me about color cast or megapixels anyway.. 😉
PS – Zach, I thought you only shoot Jpegs ??

Ok, I admit it, I don’t like dogs because I was attacked by one when I was 4 and it’s left a lasting impression..
That said, I do like some dogs (quiet ones that don’t eat children) and sometimes wish I had one while fishing- the pointers and labs appeal the most.
Last time I went fishing with a dog was with Morsie and ‘Bobo’ (RIP :'(),
she was a lovely cattle dog and never in the way on the river, though once, when we went in my then brand new car, she took a bit of a dump on the back seat..www.dsaphoto.com

Dear are becoming a pest here in eastern Australia – there’s even a bunch of them in the big national parks that surround Sydney.
I ran into a mob of them once about 3 hours west of Sydney, but of course had no camera.. >:(

I checked the specs on dpreview.com and it looks like it doesn’t have a manual setting
So looks like you would have to set it to ‘cloudy’ or ‘shade’
Might be worth a look through the manual.. 😮

(flies and photos ;))I like the first of the shots on white – I think the harder shadows give the fly more shape – though the others look good as well.
Have you tried any light reflected off silver with no diffusion ?
If the source is large enough you still get soft light, though the silver gives really crisp detail.
I’m no expert on macro stuff, but I think the key would be getting the distance from light to subject bang on for the best result.

Wow, great shots !
#3 is awesome, a beautiful picture with a simple and lovely feel – very well done.
Only comment I would make is the color is a little cold (auto white balance?), while it still works I think a warmer version would be better for a baby shot.
Another thing is the focus – I would normally try to get the eye closest to the lens.

#1 is in a dark room, though next to a large window on a grey day – the lens is a 50 1.2 wide open and that adds a lot of the character in the shot.
(1000th sec @ 200 ISO)#2 is done at f2 on a 50 1.4 @ 800 ISO – I converted it to B&W because the color from the down lights was nasty.
#3 is in shade under an awning though Xavier is facing the light.
The lens is a 24-70 at 40mm and 2.8The last is done with my favorite lens, the 85 1.2 – it has a look all it own and melts even strong backgrounds.
Edward is only 4 feet in front of a tree there, yet it’ still soft.
It was shot at 1.6.Fast lenses are great for natural light and portraits in general, but you need to take a lot of shots because your depth of field will be paper thin on some of them when wide open.
Mama bear might not like it much, but if you can lay a blanket down in the shade and shoot tight with a fast lens you will get nice shots – just keep an eye on the white balance to keep the skin-tone nice.

It’s great that the tube fits in your car while inflated – that must save a bit of stuffing around when you get where you’re going..

I don’t like the SA Trout line on slower rods and have changed over to Rio Selective Trout II’s on them.
The difference is amazing.
(No experience with weed however. ;))

I like the graphics..
Only problem (IMHO) with the first composition is you can’t see any rod or reel in the background photo.
Though most of us fly fisherman will get your meaning, I bet an art director would not – mind you, most of the ones I’ve worked for are latte sipping middle aged men dressed like teenagers who only go outdoors when walking from their chic inner city terrace house to their Mazda convertible, a lot of them also seem a little confused about the natural order of things where pro-creation is concerned.. 😉The second one is very punchy and the reflection works a treat – it’s very modern and would stand out well in a magazine full of fishing photos as well.
