I wonder would a system of rolling fishing bans for both recreational and commercial fisherman work ?
Seems to me, that the approach of permanently locking up water makes a lot of people unhappy, but if the lockup was for a period of time that allowed the fish populations to recover and the areas changed from season to season, more anglers might get into it.

(the Mystery Ranch stuff looks pretty cool)Zach, there’s no LL Bean here except for on-line ordering – so I have no chance of seeing one before buying.
Almost everything I wear now is by Bean because you can get about 99% of what they do in tall sizes including wading jackets and outwear.
Most of their pants also come in 36′ inseams.
And let me tell you, tall sizes in anything is as rare as rocking horse sh*t here in Oz.. 😉I’m real happy with the quality of LL Bean in general.
Generally I get all my fly stuff off the shelf from a couple shops here, and order through them as well, but there’s not much around in waterproof bags, so I might have to take a chance on the new slingpack.
One eye is on the Sage backpack, but it might be a bit big for what I need – they should be in stock here soon to have a look.

I wonder though, do you ever scrape getting in & out of the water ?Anyway, I ended up getting another Humminbird RF15 Smartcast because it’s the devil I know and I have a couple of the transmitters lying around.
There’s not a big range of this stuff here in Oz..Hope this one lasts longer then the last.

That looks very interesting with the Pelican.
It wouldn’t be great for rapid fire lens changes, but for total protection, I doubt you could find better.It would also be good for landscape photographers carrying medium format or large format gear into remote spots.
Also makes me wonder if you could get a harness and fix a pelican to it so it could be opened and closed without undoing straps ?

I never like Velvia much, I thought it was too slow (really 32 ISO) and it made everyone pink – in general, skin-tone was rubbish.
The only time I used it was landscapes & products, and it was awesome for both.
Another thing it was good for, was cross process.

Hi Steve, I am a huge fan of my original Scott G series 2 weight (7’6′) and also had the G2 2 weight for a couple seasons, and the G2 is a worth successor.
Only complaint would be that the rod is a bit line fussy.
Not a problem once I put an XPS on it.
Here’s the review I did of the G2 2wt. for Flylife – http://www.flylife.com.au/library/tackrev/43/scottg2.htmlI also have a TXL 2 weight and 3 weight (7′) and both are sweet rods, with the 3 weight being my pick of them in tight water.
What I would recommend though, is the new 8′ ZXL 2 weight – it’s an awesome rod and matched up with a Rio Selective Trout II is brilliant on the stream.
I throw nymphs and hoppers with no problem.
It’s got more feel than the TXL 2, but still has some grunt.
Of all the 2 & 3 weights I’ve had over the years (it’s an obsession  ;)) it is the pick – hands down.

 I found a backpack harness system made to accommodate Pelican cases.  Adjustable, a pain to work from, but it might still be OK; not tested enough.
No perfect solution I’ve found.
Hi Buzz, that’s sounds interesting, do you have a shot or link ?
Morsie tried a while back to convince Pelican to make a pack/case hybrid, but to no avail.
Personally, I think there’s a lot of possibilities along those lines.We’ve also both sent emails to Thinktank asking for a better solution to a waterproof pack for cameras, but they said they were unsure the market for such a pack would be enough.
I find it strange there’s not more options on the market given how many people are now running around with expensive digital cameras..

I’ve had 2 Dryzone 200 packs and returned both.
The zippers are rubbish IMHO and even if lubricated come apart under any load.
(my gear is fairly heavy)
The design of the bag also makes it very slow to use and they’re very expensive for what you get.I now have a ‘Rover AW’ LowPro pack and have lined the bottom divider section with a dry bag that I close if it’s nasty and leave open in normal conditions to make swapping a lens faster.
I keep another small drybag in the top section that holds my rain jacket and can put a spare lens and flash in it if needed.
This set-up would weigh less than half what the Drizone does and was cheap.
I don’t know if I would call it perfect, but until I see something better it will do.Another option is a pack like the Simms Drycreek with a padded divider section from Lowpro.
I’ve been thinking of getting the roll top for a while now.

I have the padded dividers in my Pelican cases so they can be used for different gear depending on what I’m doing.
I thik they cost a bit more, but are worth it because they wont wear out and your gear might change.
One of my Pelicans has been with me from the start, and is still working fine.

David a little birdy who has never and I mean never been wrong tells me Feb for the 1DMKfour. If so the 1Dsfour wont be far behind.
I suspect they’re busy (back at the coup) updating all the L zoom lenses to handle the extra resolution.. 😉
