Dave, I also have a Marmot that I carry around in my camera bag at all times and I agree they’re awesome.
I think mine was the model before the Precip, but at the time they tell me it was the most breathable rainwear you could get.Had it out in heavy rain with both cameras and been left bone dry – brilliant.

Only problem with a high rez FF camera is the cheap lenses tend to fall down under the pressure.
25 MP’s will push a lens to the limits of what’s possible on 35mm and you will get away with nothing.

I think the Holg’s character is better in B&W, though I have seen some good color stuff when the light was at it’s best.

Not that I know what I’m talking about, but it seems the field of “professional” photographers seems a little crowded these days. In the past, professional photographers were full time and had a fortune invested in equipment. It looks like now there are a lot of part time professionals and the entry costs are much lower with the digital equipment.
Since demand is somewhat static, the oversupply of professional photographers can only drive down prices. That, combined with the ease of transferring photos over the internet and the poor economy, makes it a tough profession right now. I wish all you guys luck. I’m sure it is frustrating to those of you trying to make a buck.

Most special interest photography is now a part time pursuit at best and a huge slice of it is now done as much for love as money and there’s nothing the full time pro’s can do about it except thank god that it’s not happening in lens design and medicine.

I don’t know if you have one, but I like these small color cards for keeping color in product shots under control – you just do a control frame when you have your exposure where you want it and then batch color correct everything off that frame.
Works well.

Nice light – it brings out great detail and depth.
I have a MAc 17′ with the wide gamut matt screen that’s calibrated within an inch of it’s life.
The color looks good, though your reds are leaning to magenta as opposed to green – from raw a tweek in the red of -3 would be my gues to fix it.
Also, I would knock the saturation back in the yellow and red just a touch (-2?) to stop the color burning out.My question – how do I get a dozen of fly #4 ?

Good point about use Zach.
I have an LL Bean shell for work and other boring non fishing situations and I really like it, but I am after a wading jacket or something to wear over chest waders.
The actual length isn’t a huge issue, though I like the pockets up high and a dry internal pocket for a lens/memory cards.
Another good thing about a short jacket is that when you cinch the waist cord carrying a camera inside works well – and it’s out of harms way.The old SST was good with the exception that the front pockets took on water in heavy rain, though I fixed that by burning drain holes in.
The flat pockets with waterproof zippers on some of these new jackets look like they would be better.The cuffs on the Orvis look like they would do the job and I like the look of the tool pocket on the Loop Opti.

The new focus system is the most interesting element iMHO and it will be interesting to see how accurate it is compared to previous models.
The speed of the processors is also pretty cool – a burst of 28 raws – while on the DsIII I get like 4 or 5..
Surprised there’s no new lenses announced with it..
