As for the ABs, it was already bad enough losing Read, but now no Dan, Richie, Mils, or Dagg. I sure hope the injuries clear up soon.

Probably a dumb question but is the WC Union or Leauge format?
It’s Union.
League is a simplified version with less stoppages and rules.
I think Union is much better because the ball is always contested and all 30 players on the field are involved most of the time.That said, a Union game can be pretty dull if both teams play a conservative game and a league game played at pace can be very good.

John, a friend of a friend is a mad fly fisherman and only has one arm.
While I’ve never personally fished with him, I hear he goes well on the trout.He has one of the auto wind reels like Zach posted above.
Another idea would be Tenkara because there’s no real.
It’s a very pleasing way to fish and a very simple set-up that doesn’t cost the earth.Tenkara USA have a great website with lots of video.

Thanks for that input everyone.
(And photos!)To start with, the Lanyards look like something I would get tangled up on the overgrown she-it fight creeks I like and normally, I don’t have much gear hanging off my vest or current pack when I fish.
You should see what sort of trouble a tiny tripod has caused.. 😀That said, I saw a small bag from Goertzen, the lanyard mob mentioned above and it looks very awesome, but at $350 might be a stretch with permission from the wife.. 😮
I have looked (on-line) at some day packs from Gregory and a couple other places, but still need to have a look at them next time I go to the city to see if they’ll work for what I want.

They are a cheaper option then fly fishing stuff and one would work over one of my vests I already have.Neal’s question about water is a good one and in answer, I normally just carry a 1 liter or less water bottle and that’s generally fine, but I have been caught out a couple times on long days with bigger walks where I wouldn’t mind more.
For that I could add a second bottle, and I also have a 2 litre soft bottle from Platypus, but I’m not sure about a ‘hydration’ system as such.Last, the Simms pack shown above has been added to the short list !

I have a theory that this comes down to the physical build of the designers and their casting styles. Big burly guys like Jerry Siem (Sage)
Not sure about that – the TCR is ‘faster’ then the TCX – maybe the designers are getting older ?? 😀

What Tim said about roll tops dry bags.
I’ve spent some serious money on ‘dry’ camera bags and been very let down, but the cheaper Lowpro Ranger pack I have with a couple dry bags has been great.
In the Ranger I have a dry sack lining the bottom padded section.
Normally it’s rolled down out of the way and the pack works like any other, but if it’s raining or I’m deep wading, I roll the top over the gear.www.dsaphoto.com

I’ll take a look at some of the silver brolly’s too… Any other advice on modifiers? I have a 28″ sb, a cheapy 50″ sb, a couple of Alienbees shoot thru 60″ umbrella/PLM’s. What’s the big deal with the octaboxes – I see a lot of people raving about them?
The Octa light IMHO (original Elinchrom) is by far the best light shaper you can get – I use mine about 80% of the time.
Price is another matter.. ::)
There are some cheaper copies getting around and also a few really big brollies that seem cheep enough.
FWIW, there’s two kinds of softbox, direct where the flash fires out of the front of the box through a diffuser and indirect where the flash fires back into the box and if reflected out through the diffuser.
The direct box has more punch and would be better for lighting larger spaces and things and the indirect is really good for close up portraits.
(That said, the size of the box is a big factor in it’s look as well.)The original Octa is indirect with a silver lining and has two diffusers that can be removed to make it just a big brolly.
You could get the same sort of effect with some of the cheapie silver brollies with white diffusers I’ve seen around.The thing I like the most about Octa lights though, is it’s the only light you need for most shoots and that saves a lot of set-up time.
Another thing to look at would be beauty dishes.
Silver for things and white or silver for people.
A dish has a harder grade from highlight to shadow (generally) than an brolly so they are a little less forgiving, but more dramatic.
The dish is also great on location because they’re rigid and the wind wont damage them – I’ve had them up in some seriously bad weather and with a couple shot bags had no problem.Here’s a couple Octa light samples.
This one is with the light a few feet away from the subject for a softer look –
In this sort of shot the Octa light has no equal IMHO.
And here’s one with the Octa about a foot out of the shot and at a hard angle from the side.
This is about as hard as they get.
There’s lots of lights will do this sort of look, but few will be as forgiving with the light so close.
And here’s a couple from a white beauty dish.
This is with the light a long way back and used as just a fill light to keep detail in a backlit shot.
We didn’t want hard shadows or background.
The white dish has no equal in this sort of shot IMHO.
Last, the dish but very close and at a hard angle.
Sorry I don’t have any examples of bikes – I’ve been begging the wife for a new W800 with no success.. :'( ;D

I’m not sure what the difference between full frame and not is?
A full frame is a camera with a sensor the same size as 35 mm film.
In Canon, that’s the 5D, 5DII and 1DsIII
In the other models the sensor is a bit smaller.The main thing that changes is the perspective of the lens because if the sensor is smaller it’s only using the centre part of the image.
The advantage of a smaller sensor is you’re getting more reach and depth of field (amount of shot in focus front to back for any given Fstop) out of your longer lenses, but you’re losing width on your wides.For example, the 24 – (?) zooms that people are recommending in above posts (IMHO) are not wide enough to get big sky landscape shots on your camera, but gain at the telephoto end and might be better for macro and long shots.
As mentioned though, if you ever upgrade to a full frame camera, lenses like the 10-22 will be no good to you where the 24-105 will be awesome.You could argue to the death over full frame vs. cropped sensor.. 😎
