    I took advantage of the same “deal” that you received. I won’t mention the reel maker since you didn’t….but the reel looks great on my 4-weight bamboo rod. I thought it was a sweet marketing gimmick.

    The past few times….I’ve stayed at Coastal Trail B&B off of Spenard. Nice place and Sherry and her husband are great hosts.

    We’ve had a few very comprehensive threads here….regarding lightweight tripods for backpacking. Try the search feature for “lightweight tripod” and you’ll see the different threads. Make sure to check “all posts” for the Photography Forum when you do the search. Lot’s of good info and a few money saving ideas.

    Kbilcher…..ever thought of renting that garage to a couple of fisherman?

    When I fly in to ANC for a fishing trip….I usually spend the first night at a bed and breakfast or hotel…typically $200 a night. I do this to rest before hitting the highway the next morning. If you had a couple of bunks, toilet and shower…..nothing fancy…..I could see where a fisherman would gladly pay $100 to stay a night or two.

    Lodging costs are crazy expensive in downtown ANC.

    Just a thought.

    A synthetic long sleeve fishing shirt….like the ones made by Columbia and Ex-Officio……IN CAMO PATTERN! For those of us that chase brookies. They would sell a ton of ’em in my opinion. They could be used during archery and dove season in the Deep South as well. The possibilities are endless……..I’d call it Brookie-flage.

    To continue a Black Friday tradition….I may be on Smith’s on….er…..Friday. I’ll let you know. Otherwise check in with the guys at Unicoi Outfitters in Helen. They can tell you the hot pattern. Lately for me it’s been a Hurliss Nymph. It’s nothing special….just big and gaudy. I’ve caught the Smith Creek stockers on that pattern with a small Pheasant tail dropper….when nothing else would work. Don’t ask me why

    Ditto on the old Orvis Superfine. My “Brook Trout” model, purchased new in 1982 or so is unsanded. Never heard it referred to as “snakebelly” though. Looking forward to your article.

    Look up J.D. Miller at http://www.henrysforkanglers.com. Ask him about the mutant stonefly hatch in late July. He has the fly that works….it’s called a “Spongebob” if I remember right.

    I bought one last year off CL in nearly new condition with a UV filter included. Original box and papers were with it…..all for 400 bones.

    I really like mine as well.
