Just watched it.  It is a new generation of television fly fishing.  Great story, great photography.  Had some very good tactical and technical info in a new way.

When I saw the words competitive, teen, and phenom I became very skeptical, but the program was not about competition.  And Hunter was not what I expected, he was a pleasant surprise.

I have two questions.   Is the entire series going to be following Hunter.
And can anyone tell me if the films from IF4 are going to be full length DVD’s.

My everyday carry is a Benchmade 943 Osborne.   I like it for the sharp point, good for splinters and sticker removal.  The serrations on the combo blade cuts rope and webbing like butter.  It’s a pain to sharpen the serrations but they don’t get the abuse that the plain part of the blade does.

My biggest complaint with all of the knives I have used is that the handles are not real grippy?

Oh yeah, the factory will resharpen it for you for the cost of shipping, if needed.

Do you have any idea how many waste injection wells already exist?   Probably a lot more than we could imagine.   Seems to be very politicly popular to blame every fracking well on polluted water.

My dentist once told me that it’s perfectly safe to put those fillings in my mouth that contain mercury,  then he told me that the EPA requires they be disposed of with government regulated companys. (no landfills)

Who are we supposed to trust?  Probably neither business or government is completely honest with us.

I just hope I can continue to afford to heat my home and drive/fly to my fishing spots.

I find a knife that I can open with one hand is VERY useful

Depending on where you keep them and how you transport them they might be much more prone to being broken.

Hatch makes a great reel.  The original series were on the heavy side but the new “Finnatic” reels are quite a bit lighter.
I use the midarbor spools, they hold more line than the large arbor.

If I wade over knee deep with any pants they of course fill with water.
When I get out the, water drains out slowly enough that my pant legs bulge over my socks to the point that they eventually come out.

Not a big deal, just sort of a hassle.  The Patagonia pants give me the least trouble with this.

Bob, do the Colombia pants still have those nets on the inside like swimming trunks?

I tried Colombia years ago but found the liner or net a little too….restrictive.

Like I said its been years since I tried them (Colombia)but they also didn’t drain water like some others.

I wear Simms stuff.  Guide boot felt sole, wet wading socks, and neopren guard socks over the wet wading socks.

For pants I wear something like their “superlight pants” or Patagonia makes similar pants with a drawstring if you don’t want to wear a belt.

I stuff my pant legs into the top of the wet wading socks.  This is what works for me, keeps the sand and gravel out and my pant legs don’t hang up on stuff.

The Patagonia pants seem to drain water a little better than Simms.

The felt soles don’t last long with the hiking but I will not wear rubber soles as long as I don’t have to.
