Forgot to say, there are also some first class full service lodges down there that might or might not set you up with a guide.

A few years ago I rented a Jeep in Cancun and drove down to Punta Allen.
If you can get in touch with the “mermaid lady” she can hook you up with a good guide for cheap.
I don’t have the contact info anymore but if you can call the bar or anyone else in Punta they will know her.
Watch the speed limits on the drive down,  the policia like those Jeeps with Avis stickers on the bumper,   but any fine can be negociated.

I love all of the Simms stuff, even the overseas stuff.    I also understand what they are up against as far as price points.

But I do buy only American rods, reels and lines.  I just refuse to even try a foreign rod.  That is probably foolish to many but it just gives me satisfaction  to use well made American products.

Great gear, I wish more of it was made in USA.

Thanks for the help, I couldn’t find those topic threads when I searched. Still new to this board.

I totally agree that a felt ban is not the answer.
Guess I will keep repairing my G3’s (Simms) but I’m gonna have to carry them on my back while hiking.

Forgot to say, I occasionally fish with a guy who has Korkers and he has trouble keeping the soles on.
