I’ve never been a huge fan of Tamron, they make some nice stuff.. but Tokina and Sigma have provided some great glass and often at a significant discount compared to the name brand stuff.
If you can live without Image stabilization and an ultrasonic motor.. the Tokina 80-200 2.8 is an AWESOME lens.. and you should be able to find it just north or right around $300-$350…
I’ve got two kayaks and a canoe… the kayaks rock for getting to fish where you might get wet on the way in or out.. plus.. they sneak up on fish very well… but as has already been said.. sight fishing is nearly impossible…
To put this into prospective…
The Arkansas river that normally runs 35,000-50,000 cfs is predicted to hit over 400,000 cfs by this weekend.. THAT IS NOT A TYPO
this is the story for every Arkansas lake/tailwater, from the little mo, to the ouachita system, I think the little red has largely been spared so far but greers ferry is flooding bad, and as soon as they can I’m sure the COE will be running those generators.
I was just thinking about the whole conversion or adoption of fly fishing, I never had anyone in my family who flyfished, at least not with me.
My kids began fishing at 2.. but with “zebco” tackle.. I believe it’s best to instill the passion for fishing… the type of rod and technique come later…
