    Hey guys,
I am heading to a spot this weekend known for its White Bass activity this time of year. I have heard that Crazy Charlies are great W. Bass flies, but I am curious what the rest of y’all use.

    Neal-Got any on your Fuzzels?

    Thanks,
    Dusty

    My standards have been
    Clousers
    Jiggies
Size 6, Either tied with bucktail or craftfur

    Chartruese/White
    Fire Tiger
    Tan/White
    All White.

Brighter colors in cloudy water, in crystal clear water Ive gone smaller, more white colors even to a size 10 white crystal bugger with a red collar. slower retrieve.

I also have an article from Bill Butts (of podcast fame) on my blog
http://mountainriverjournal.wordpress.com/tips-tricks-and-ideas/spring-white-bass-i-bill-butts/ on the third page he has flies etc.

    Cheers and have fun.
I keep getting blown out by runoff this year.

    Steve

PS: I haven’t used fuzzzels but I have caught whites on dumbell eye versions of the precursor fly to the fuzzels the BMS.

All silver Lite Brite was pretty good on some days.

Dusty, the Fuzzles are simply amazing and very easy to tie.

    Neal,
I would be very appreciative if you were to send me a few.

    Labrati,
I was tying some Crazy Charlies with some glow in the dark pink Flashabou. I’ll try them out tomorrow and get back with you, that is if I get a chance to even set foot in this river. Reports have been saying this river is jam packed, even during the week. I am sure tomorrow will be combat to the inth degree. I’ll need to make sure to have a knife close at hand for roaming lines.

Dusty… I know what you mean… my home tailwater has some real “mouth breathers” who will hook you if you don’t watch em…

    Labrati,
Do you know of the manufacturer who produces those knives? I do have a guide buddy of mine who carries a SOG w/ a gut-hook for such circumstances, but the blade you are describing sounds perfect: 20 lb. mono may be a future target.

Go to safety and rescue, then knives

Rescue blades have a blunt tip so you don’t stab the victim.

Black has been very good to us this year. We are doing pretty well this week by swing the black boss …dead drift and swing slowly entice more strikes this week…

I hit four different lakes, tailwaters, etc. this weekend and did not catch one white! We got into carp, large mouth, crappie, and bluegill, but never brought any whites to hand. I blaming this on the jon boat hatch.

Thanks for the knife and fly info guys.

Muddy water probably has something to do with it.
