Member1. Fast Glass, nothing slower than 2.8 If you can.. if you don’t have glass that fast see #2
2. ISO, bump it.. you can clean it up later
3. Flash, unless totally prohibited, use it..
4. Shoot in RAW… you and adj the WB and tone etc in post processing… heck.. I find I use the grey card and then just process as flash (even if I don’t use it) to warm things up anyway…
5. Tripod or monopod6… Perspective… wonder if they would have hoisted you up there to take a downward shot… I’m.. thinking perhaps a little fill, perhaps not (the lights will be shining down on the subject from above)…

MemberIt’s bad.. real bad.. 26 counties are disaster areas, houses are floating down the white… floodgates have been open for days trying to balance everything out…
Tailwater trout are pretty much out… time to go bass / striper fishing…. I’ve been tying flys for days and days..

MemberIMHO, a 98-2007 LandCruiser and a caravan topper (like they use in AU and NZ) is the way to go… you can get the tent topper in a rugged version that would easily allow you to put the bike and kayak on top of it… whole thing sits on your roof… then the bed or back of your rig can be 100% for gear… and of course you can allways get down and get into the rig if the weather gets real nasty…
You could easily adapt to a tundra….

MemberI had a pretty bad exp with the little waterproof and crush proof O’s… First one developed bad pixels on the sensor after about 2 days…
Second one made it 3 months.. and then filled with water (in 3ft of water)….
I think the WP housing for the G9 will be my

MemberI want to echo what everyone has said, I think it shows a LOT that you are willing to post and take critique…
Shot with fisherman & truck… interesting.. horizon looks to be a little off (not level).. might be perspective…
mike j
Membernice shots…
IMHO-
1. Fill flash on the moon shot would have been interesting.. the shot is interesting.. but lighting the foreground might have been intereting too..
2. Perspective… shooting down at trout (or pretty much anything other than ariel shots) or your subject causes distortion and the viewer has a hard time “feeling” as if they are there…
This goes for kids, flowers, fish, people.. look at images you really like and try to imagine the angle of the lense and then the location of the photographer… and allways remember.. the eyes have it… try to get a shot of the eye…
of course without a waterproof assembly and a really tame fish this would be hard without capturing the fish first…
-edit- OK after looking at some of your albums.. I see elements of all of these… fill flash, eye-level angles.. and some very nice shots -edit-

MemberThank you for your service but I’m sorry, I’m not ready to blame the media for the problems that have resulted at the hands of a crappy government (and I don’t just mean the Bush administration or whatever) who has systematically and immorally neglected and mistreated the amazingly selfless members of our armed services.

MemberI believe this guy is a switchin over to a Mac. There is nothing wrong with Lightroom. Some people use both. I picked Aperture to invest my time and money in though. There is plenty of room in the market for both applications. I use both Macs and pcs but if I had to choose one it would be the Mac. A lot of the buzz about a product is generated by people on the take from a brand you can’t trust them totally. I am not implying anything about you Labrati but you know the people you see associated with a camera of a fly rod. I know when a fellow pro says “hey you need to check out Capture NX” he wouldn’t steer me wrong he had nothing to gain. Does Lightroom still have a free trial? If it does and Drifter thinks he might like it then he should try it. Adobe enjoys a huge position in the market and there is a plethora of “experts” getting rich trying to teach people how to piss there life down the drain in Photoshop. Aperture does the better job in my opinion of acquiring evaluating and editing images.

MemberGo for a Nikon D1 or first generation canon digital SLR… might be only 2.7 MP.. but the image quality will be pretty good.
D1’s are all over ebay for very reasonable prices…
