I will be in the Little Rock area working all of next week (staying in LR and working in Sheridan) and was wondering if anyone could help out a PA fellow.  Is it worth bringing the fly rod this time of the year, I am hoping to keep as close to Little Rock as possible and any species is fun on a fly rod.  I know 2 hours north the White and Little Red are great trout fisheries but I don’t see having the time to make that long of a drive.

    Thanks in advance.

The Little Red is only about 1.5 hours and it’s worth it.

You can probably rule out the Little Red anyway because of high water.

High water may be a problem most everywhere… although if you can I’d try for the Litttle Red.

Thanks for all of the replies, I will keep an eye on the weather and make a call before I leave Sunday night.

If you want to go to the LR, even at high water, I can give you a walk-in location that will work.

Little Red is a great night fishery…… easiest spots if you’ve never been there to fish after dark will be JFK park area (right below the dam)… actually the camp-ground area….

LR looks like it’s still bouncing like a ping-pong ball… Carpenter damn tailwater (45min south).. seems to have stabilized.. I went by yesterday and it was flat (no generation no gates open)…
