Just posted some photos of Bull Shoals tailwater this week post-flood, including the silt loads on the banks and a recent shot of Overlook Estates.

It’s ironic the silt loads from all the feeder streams and creeks did more damage than Overlook to the White, but of course it was the willful negligance of the developer which added an unnecessary toll.
I was amazed at the scuds I found on the bank after the water receded. The dynamics of the floods are something I don’t fully understand. I know we gain some insects being pushed out into the tailwaters from the feeder creeks, but some of those like certain mayflies and stoneflies don’t tolerate sediment well. It will take perhaps 1-2 years for the sediment to move down to the lower extremities of Bull Shoals tailwater. Deposits start just downstream of Bull Shoals dam a mile or so. Don’t know what the net gain or loss will be. Don’t think there has been enough data collected on insects in the river system to provide a complete picture.
More rain and flooding is forecast for this weekend and especially tomorrow.
