MemberNice work Jan – and welcome.
I find interesting you’ve used Smugmug for your site. I’m in the process of integrating mine in the same manner – well done!

MemberThis might be completely daft, but; how about scrimming a ring flash?
I’ve not tried it – it was just a mad idea that hit the brain and came rolling off my fingers onto the computer screen just now.
Perhaps, even if it’s an absurd notion, it’ll inspire you.

MemberHey IA Photographers:
Last Thursday, I learned that my tenure as editor of American Angler will end December 31, 2008. Like a lot of folks, I got bit in the ass by a horrible economy and tough economic times for the fly-fishing industry.
So, we started this cool flickr group a little late. However, I will continue to maintain the group—now called the Fly-Fishing Archive—for future use. I’ve already got a few irons in the fire, some of which will require great angling photography.
I’ll keep you posted.
Have a good holiday,
Phil
Tough news to get Phil, no matter the season. You’re a class act, and I’ve had interactions with editors that weren’t *anything* like those we’ve had with you here.
I suspect you’ll have good things coming your way soon – and hope very much you keep us posted.
Meanwhile, if you’re ever in need of getting some fishing in, Texas is a fine place, and I can hook you up. (yes, the pun’s intended)

MemberIf the Europeans are upset its because it reminds them of their past! Which they would like to forget so they can repeat it again and again. They should try the American model of Perpetual Guilt and Recrimination.
Thanks mucho for that hearty chuckle over coffee this morning David.

MemberSome really nice photos in the mix there John.
2, 13, 35….there are more I really like – oh, the jumping fish shot, and the one where the fish is power-stroking its tail.
That said, I’d *really* like 34 – IF you’d kept then angler in the upper 3rd – or left 3rd of the image. Instead of him being the focus, it’s as if the river (the dark, river) becomes the focuse, as it is in the magic spot.
You’ve the lines there to do good things – would love to see it cropped down.

That article explains the meme and its viral effects on the internet.

MemberThere’s a whole series of them. This one I saw first and still think it is the funniest.
…and the first one I saw was one dogging the Dallas Cowboys.
They’re all amusing, but also hard for me to watch, as I speak a fair bit of German, and the incongruity of the language to text weirds me out.

MemberI think I can help ya gents.

Do a search for an image – then select one – be advised some of these won’t allow for commercial use, only editorial licensing.
Anyway – you can add an image to your cart, and then run through the pricing routine – one of the options is corporate use, and presentations.
You’ll see how it works – it’s pretty straight forward.
The pricing module is driven by FotoQuote – the industry standard. It’s a useful way to price any of your work, for nearly any purpose.
G’luck lads.

Memberby next weekend Im guessin the rut will be over so will start using rattles instead.
J
Wow – seems a really quick rut – unless it’s been “on” for a while.
Down here it seems to, once it finally starts, go on for a long while – but it’s always triggered by a good hard cold front – and then not the first one (sometimes).
Gotta say again – really great stuff John. Love seeing those big northern deer.

MemberMight want to remove your jacket before you start to move.
I always do that when I’m in the field – tie it around my waist before I start to walk. It’s saved me a lot of discomfort.
Also have been known to have 4 layers, and to start a long hike with just one or two layers on, adding after stopping.
Of course, I’m sure you know all that, but perhaps someone else doesn’t.

MemberSome glorious work there John!
That one guy has a real snaggle-tooth rack, eh?
Man – I need to get back out – gonna be a while though I fear, as we’re moving very soon.

MemberGood call Neal – it’s obvious (from his work that) John (and any good photographer) pays his or her dues in the field – as much or more than hunters.

MemberOops – lied – the photo isn’t in the set.
Here it is tho:

Oh – and my forehead would put yours to shame if I took off my hat. Actually, there’d be no picture then, save for a bright, white, polar bear in a snowstorm type of shot.

MemberLOL!

MemberI like the nummer 3 and 4 pics. On all four of them the horizon looks a bit down on the left.
Aye – a couple degrees like that is most disconcerting.
But – great locations! I’m looking forward to getting up there to shoot myself – the color is obviously great right now.
Nicely done.
