Nice post Cam! I am a little disappointed that all your time in the gym working out didn’t pay off and you were unable to finish.

I wish I had some sympathy Lando but…..

What do you think about hooking up on the Horn in October? Or maybe you and JD could come and pay Bill and I a visit again in the fall?

    Zach,

You were in fishing mode this morning so I really didn’t understand how we claim our prizes. Let us all know when you get a chance.

By the way how did you and Dr. Neal do fishing today?

It just goes to show that any form of extremism accomplishes nothing. The extreme environmentalists were always on Plum Creek about this and that to the point they had problems with logging their own land. Now granted I was not always a fan of their logging practices myself but it grows back. Sub-divisions stay there until a forest fire wipes them out.

First off I would like to congratulate Kevin Powell for winning the big prize! Good job buddy, you deserved it! And congrats to you too Jim!

I would like to thank everyone for voting for me! I will be getting a spey rod with my winnings! Never done it but I think it is time to learn!

    Thanks again guys!

This is the first time I have had a chance to read everyones responses since the first day I posted this. There is some good stuff here forsure and I can see both sides of the fence. I would say I still think that if I had a special spot I would probably keep it too myself or just show those I really trust just to make sure it stays special to me. I enjoy being alone when I am fishing for myself. It is a time for me to rejuvenate my soul. I love to share the things I have been blessed with, but I hate having to wait to fish my honey holes! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Great discussion guys!

Brett I am so out of the loop right now I am not up on the story. Do you have a link that I could go to and look at the story? I know that the Nature Conservancy, Trout Unlimited, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation acquired a fairly nice sized chunk in the upper Blackfoot so at least it is not all going to the wrong people.

Zach, How is the voting coming along so far? When does it close?

I just can’t wait to see who the big winner is going to be! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

The history on my photo is the result of boredom. We had just got another big snow storm in Missoula and I was really sick of working on preseason orders for the fly shop. My lab Riley was bugging me to go outside and do something so we spent the next couple of hours constructing the snow boat and snowman. The funny thing about it is after I finished the boat and was working on the snowman Riley was digging away at the front on the boat! ๐Ÿ˜€ Not always the best helper….

Anyhow by the time I finished the snowman and got it in the boat Riley was just hanging out in the boat like we were on the river and it spawned the idea of putting the IA shirt on the snowman and taking a picture.

Good looking hat and fly there Simon. ย Joel, are you selling those?

I will be Mark once I get my website up and running. I didn’t think it was right to try and sell them here.

Simon, I LOVE that streamer!!!! That would work GREAT in my home waters! You are messing with my addiction!

Mike I found my special waters by exploring. I look for lakes, streams, and rivers that DON’T have trails to them or easy access points to them. I fish them and fish them hard to find out for myself what fishes good and not so good. I am not aposed to sharing my secrets with others but I will never share them with the whole world because I don’t know if the whole world and I share the same values even if we are part of the same fraternity. Let’s face it even some fly fisherman like to leave their garbage behind for everyone else to see.

How is that Scotch by the way?

Lee, when are you going? The water is still really big up there and the going to the sun road is not open yet and will likely not open until the first or second week of July. LOTS of snow to remove!

The water on the middle fork is high and cold as is the north fork. Depending on how soon you are going it could fish very well this year as a lot of hatches will be happening all at once!

I second Polebridge as a place to stop and Kintla lake is about as pretty as it gets. I wouldn’t worry about bear spray as long as you run faster than the rest of your group! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Actually take bear spray. Lots of bears.

Who is your guide up there?

Good times….good times. I can’t wait to do it again and maybe the next time I won’t catch ALL of the big fish! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Lando, tell your boys they always have a place to stay when they are passing through. Great bunch of guys! And thanks for the casting lesson. I will be a snake rolling machine by your next visit!
