Been waiting on Google to process this video for streaming, and after three tries it ain’t happening. So here’s the video, but it is in windows media file format on my blog. I’ll switch it out for the streaming version if Google ever processes it.

My customer Mark did a good job of playing, landing, posing and releasing the fish of a lifetime.

Scott, thanks for sharing that video and stills. Looks like an excellent day on the water. That is definitely a Brown of a lifetime, a real beauty.

Thanks for the kind words, Scott. I know a lot of anglers on this board regularly catch big(ger) fish, but for a casual angler, like a lot of my customers, it is a life-time event. I just love a good brown trout like that one. Such a worthy fish for a sport angler to catch.

Very nice Scott! I love the way you preached proper handling of the fish. Well done!

Thanks again, guys. That was a fun fish. Yeah, that was a bit preachy, Joel, but he was distracted and I wanted to make sure he heard me :-). The video is streaming now off Google, or if you have Windows Media Player you can download a higher resolution file via the link.

That is awesome Scott. I am surprised at the relaxed atmosphere on the boat, but I guess it does not help anything to get a client all hopped up, especially before the fish is brought to hand. Great work, I am sure he will not soon forget that day!

You know, Dusty, over the years I think the folks that have the best shot at landing those bigger browns are the ones that have a calm demeanor and let the fish dictate the battle. These browns don’t like being horsed around and they will either dig down and wag their head or surface and jump to dislodge the fly. Then you’ve got the runners that head right into structure (logs, moss, rocks, whatever) and those are obviously the most difficult to land.

It’s usually more animated in the boat if I see a angler heading into trouble with a fish. Mark did a good job and the fish cooperated by staying out of the structure. This battle was a straight forward power game.

    Thanks for the comments, guys.
