I am just glad to see Joe Glen get a win! I sure hope the Cowboys make it to .500 this year Lando. Joe is a class act and I would hate to see them lose him.

Welcome Brian! Good to see another guide on here from another part of the country. I always enjoy seeing what big brown trout eat in other places!

Good stuff Carter! I had no idea you were a celebrity when we talked on the phone last month! Had I known I would have asked for an autograph!

    Montana or Colorado.

    Hands down………………

Or somewhere in between like say Wyoming….

If I could somehow talk the wife into moving back out West (and away from her family) we’d go to either…

    1.  Fort Collins, Colorado

    2.  Bozeman, Montana

Both are college towns, have everything you really need, and trout water abounds.

Bozeman? Are you kidding me? What about Missoula? Three rivers with in 20 minutes, a WAY better college town, and you would already have a fishing buddy near by!

    Bozeman….give me a break!

Ha! Those are some pretty good ones guys! I hate to say it but I have used my fair share of those. I love the full moon one! I am going to have to use that one for sure!

And Zach you are spot on with the thoughts that go through a guides head. I would add these ones as well..

30 feet to your right at 2 O’clock…your other right.

    guide- “SET SET SET”!!!

Client- “Oh that was just the bottom”.

guide-Riiggghhhttt. That’s why it was moving from side to side.

Andrew and Morsie those are some great shots and posts! It is nice having you boys on the other side of the world to help all of us over here get through our winter blues.

Andrew I would take a Griz or a Mountain Lion over a poisonous snake ANY day of the week!

That is some great stuff Gregg! I am one of those people who have been burned on one of these trips because I did not ask all of the right questions. I will certainly refer back to these articles before planning my next trip!

    I see a Helios hat.

    Zach

    It was free and green…………….

I was a little pissed.  My pack board popped a rivet and I had to haul that hind quarter over two miles on my back………….and it wasn’t even my elk!

    BTW-I just call elk “delicious.”

Lando when ever I do that for my buddies I ALWAYS get half of the back straps! I sure hope you worked that out before you started hauling that beast out!

    Delicious indeed!

Mmm.  Elk.  What is elk meat called?  Deer = venison.  What’s the elk equivalent?  Or was it not on Norman tables enough to give us a frenchy food name?

Also, is this the illustrious Lando showing his face without the swirly, or is this a buddy?  I see a Helios hat.

    Zach

Zach Elk meat is simply called Elk. It needs no other name as it is tasty enough on its own. And yes that is the man we all know as Lando in the photo. I must say that camo really works well on him.

When are you heading to the Big Horn?

Not sure about the Horn trip Lando. All of my buddies bailed on me this year! Believe me, I am not happy about it!

Great story Micah! Next time I fish with Lando I will get him drunk (Man that is going to cost me a ton of money) and find out where this stream is! 🙂 Great photos as well. I love the way you tease us with just a little bit of back ground in the photos to keep us guessing where you are! Good stuff for sure!

Awesome report, one question though, who the heck eats pizza with a fork??? I mean come on that’s not even Chicago style.

    -Mike

Ahhh, Mike….I use to be young and foolish like you and just grab that hot piece of pizza fresh from the oven and cram it into my mouth only to burn my mouth with the piping hot sauce! Now that I am much older and WISER I always proceed with caution taking those first few bites with a fork so I can test the heat before consuming. 🙂

PS- The tee shirt was there but the guts to bare it in the cold was not! Shoot we could barely get a smile out of Ron when we were having fun! Just imagine how grumpy he would have been if I made him strike a pose in the tee! 😮

in reply to: A day on the Ruby. #30025

Well done Ron! I wish we could have spent the week there chasing Mr. Brown Trout and looking for more willing waitresses to photograph!

Cam, Ron and I kicked it up a notch just for you buddy! Now let’s see what you can do!

Very sad indeed. I run his video from time to time in the fly shop and always find it entertaining and helpful.

I too will be drinking a toast in his name this evening…
