Thanks for the suggestions Ben. Sorry it took me so long to get back. Last week/weekend was a bit rough. I’ll take a look and see if I can implement y’alls suggestions.
Dustydesaturated, yes, but not necessarily grainy. no, I do not calibrate my monitor yet. in all honesty, I did not really have a goal. I have done this w/ images in the past, and I just like the effect it has

D.I did have on a circular polarizer; the vignette and color reduction were done in post using Aperture 2.1. I really did not do that much, just took it down to monochrome,readjusted some to add minimal color, then added a bit of sat., contrast, and vibrancy.

I have the same body, and if I know David A., he will tell you to get the 17-40mm f/4 L. It can be had for $700 from B and H for the USA version. Also, our XSis are not full frame bodies, We will have to drop much more coin in the future if we decide we want full-frames.I asked this same question a couple of months ago. You might look for the thread as it was quite helpful.

I think I may be the only one relying solely on Aperture 2.1, but based on your, and the other’s, comments, I am beginning to seriously consider LR 2.0. I was speaking w/ a pro. photg. buddy of mine, and he suggested Elements as well. Do any of y’all use this program? Or do you think LR 2.0 has the right functions, negating the need for Elements?
D.I noticed that I lost some color and the vignette going from my program to the web. Do you guys over-do the colors on images you know you will be posting to account for the color loss? I also went from a 15 MB image to a 120 KB…I am assuming this is where the file info. was lost. So, how far does one boost the juice for pics destined for the web?

I have a L-OUPV, the “L” standing for limited. It is the cert. just below the 6-pack. When I was doing my documentation, I too went out w/ friends in their boats to log time. All had to do was sign a piece of paper saying he was the owner and that he verified I had been with him on the water for x amount of days. Also, when I did mine, the U.S.C.G. considered one day on the water as four hours. These days can be spent in ‘yaks, canoes, whatever, with a certain percentage mandatory from a motored craft. If you own the vessel, I believe all you have to do is show proof of ownership. A buddy of mine got his 25-ton, and that was all he had to do to validate his claimed days on water.I went through a tester in Anchorage for mine. We listened to him for two or three days as he spoon-fed the test to us. We all passed. I don’t think you have to go this route as you may be able to test at your local R.E.C. (Regional Exam Center.) But this route requires much more prep. on your part.
I am thinking CS3 simply b/c I do not have any Adobe software at present. I only have Aperture. Does Lightroom not come in a bundle w/ CS3? Can one still find copies of Photoshop or CS2 floating around?

If I were you, I would delete that last sentence. Before you know it, you could have a pack of Southern Flyfishers camping in your front yard. With all of the BBQ, Copenhagen, and fine malted beverages, your opinion of us might change rather quickly.
D.Thanks Zach…I was fond of that one as well. And the best part is I did not have to do any post, save the vignette.
I guess I have waited long enough to get CS3. Damn, you guys are expensive. And BTW Zach, just so that you know, when I pitch CS3 to my wife, your name will be dropped shamelessly-something to the effect of “Zach said I cannot do it w/o CS3…”

What size and dims are the photos you post, and is it safe to assume you are resizing them using CS3?

A problem I had was usage, and one must be careful as incorrect usage can lead to a loss of credibility. I am referring to knowing when to use one word vs. another, per the following examples: obtain/attain, that/which, who/whom, etc. Some good books have already been mentioned, but you might try getting your hands on an instructor edition of Diana Hacker’s Rules for Writers. I have also used Strunk and White and The Holt book or handbook, cannot recall exact title. Also, look for Eats Shoots & Leaves. I recall a book some other instructors had titled Sin Boldly, which they loved, but I never read it.HTH,
DustyHaving some trouble loading an image. The file I am trying to load is a 15.35 MB RAW file. Typically with this site, I convert the file to a 640×640 JPEG, and in this case it went don to 120kb. But when loaded, it was huge, having vert. and horizontal sliders to see the whole image. Am I forgetting something? Using Aperture 2.1 to convert file. This program does not have an image re-sizer that I am aware of. the conversions take place when I export from Aperture to the desktop.

1. What is the material used for he claws?
2. What part do you get the bunny fur from? All the fur on my rabbit skins/strips is 3/4 that length, if that long.Thx,
