MemberAfter doing some post w/ this one, I have really come to like it. I know I ignored the thirds rule, and I intentionally turned down the color sat. and other features. However, and as I am biased, I would love to hear your opinions.
Thanks,

Ben CochranMemberYou should like it Dusty and I like it too, don’t let any of the opinions change your mind on that. Before I can express any opinions, I would need to know if you shot that through a filter or was that added in post edit? I’m guessing post edit but don’t want to take that for granted.

MemberI did have on a circular polarizer; the vignette and color reduction were done in post using Aperture 2.1. I really did not do that much, just took it down to monochrome, readjusted some to add minimal color, then added a bit of sat., contrast, and vibrancy.

Ben CochranMemberIs it more of a grainy desaturated type of look that you are going for? Also, do you calibrate your monitor?
I don’t mean to be illusive with the questions, I just want to know the look that you are going for and if we are looking at the same amount of color’s, on our monitors? I promise that my next reply will be opinions and perhaps suggestions for you :).

David AndersonMemberThat’s a pretty funky grade all right and it works well enough for the shot.
I like the base shot with the exception that the feet are cut off or at least not quite in the frame, makes it look a little sloppy IMHO.
Overall it’s cool.

A picture is thousand words that takes less than a second while a thousand words is a picture that takes a month.

Memberdesaturated, yes, but not necessarily grainy. no, I do not calibrate my monitor yet. in all honesty, I did not really have a goal. I have done this w/ images in the past, and I just like the effect it has
thanks for your opinions guys,

Ben CochranMemberI really like that you are thinking out of the box! I like the image but it kind of confuses me. The gradients give the sky a very rich tone. I like the desaturated look but on my monitor, there seems to be some blue hue to the face and upper body. The vignette is a good idea but it did cut off the feet. I am not all that familiar with Aperture and would consider David King to be the go to guy on that program. What I would do, just me mind you, is this: I would desaturate some of the richness in the sky and take the blue hue off of the face and upper body. Then use a low opacity brush to remove some of the vignette around the feet.
I would say that Aperture can do this but I have no idea of how that program works. I like the shot and angle of the shot, as well as the direction that you took it in post edit!!

MemberThanks for the suggestions Ben. Sorry it took me so long to get back. Last week/weekend was a bit rough. I’ll take a look and see if I can implement y’alls suggestions.
