Great timing Zach. My in-laws are going to be in Branson at the end of the month and while there will do some fishing at Taneycomo. Do you have any contact info. or suggested guides for that water which I could pass along?
    Thanks,

I’m not looking for the more well know stuff but more off the beaten path.
I’m willing to expand my horizons so let me know what you’ve got, save me from listening to “bear in the big blue house” from the back seat over and over and over.

I was under the impression that I had previously led you into the light…that being TX country and all that it encompasses. Why listen to one pontificate when you can listen to beauty? I can see that I have more work to be done.

Thanks guys for the responses so far. I have read the thread on Steve’s “Trout Truck” and it is what gave me the inspiration to go this route. I am trying to get something close to what he has.

    Shane,
Where are you at, geographically? DFW is a big place, and given that you are not on the south end, I might be able to come help you with any truck projects.

    Shane,
You need to have a pow-wow w/ Drifter. He showed us his rig before you joined…and he did it very well. If I were you I would send him a pm. After I saw his rig I almost bought the same thing.

I detest hearing cell chatter as much as the next guy, and I would certainly condone any hazing given to the offender. However, many of us fish some remote spots where accidents can and do happen. Assuming I had cell coverage, I would have my phone on me as a safety precaution in case a rescue was needed. I would hate to leave a buddy stranded somewhere while I humped it back x amount of miles to the truck to retrieve my phone and call in some help.

As far as MP3 players or iPods, if a guy/gal wants to listen to their music while fishing it is not my business. It would be different if they were blaring tunes from a sound system they rigged up and set on the banks.

The argument is continually made that we do what we do to get away from the trappings of daily life; one of which is technology. But we seem to forget that (our love, if not dependence, of tech.) when we get the latest carbon fiber rod or machined aluminum reel.

Is it a Hexagenia? We get them here too, and they are huge.

Somebody please help me understand this. I saw one of my images and images from numerous IA people, and then some other images from N. TX photogs that I know. I can only assume this is not kosher, but what can one do?

    2) Buffs with a hole for my nose, so my sunglassess don’t fog up with every breath…

Hallelujah! I love my Buff, but cannot cover my nose as the shades fog up immediately. I wonder if there is a more breathable fabric than what they are already using.

Thanks for the explanation Karsten. But what does CF stand for, re. the lights you use?

Dude, I swear you look like Edward Norton in the first image. It just hit me when I saw the first pic. Is there a Fight Club in GA? Can’t think of a film he has been in that I have not enjoyed, so no harm intended.

Edit: Not just me…I called my wife in and asked her what celeb you look like, and w/o seeing my post, she said the exact same thing. Should the esq. thing not pan out, you could always pursue the life of a stunt double.

I certainly love the fish and scenery, but that is one good looking hunting buddy. He/She is obviously well-trained. I could never get mine to be that obedient around a Doken.

Aside from the flies, the first thing I noticed was your mastery of fly photography. Well done my friend. Care to do a show and tell?

    Dusty,
Here’s the chicken stand taht I use.

Kinda makes me feel sorry for the chicken. Tall boy or regular sized can?

You guys and your pics are killing me. And I got a bbq joint on every corner. But we all know it is better at home. Has anyone ever used those things to do some Beer-Butt-Chicken? Do you use the pre-fab bird holder or only rely on the can to prop up your bird? Any pics would be extraordinary.

in reply to: Gar flies #58111

Definitely work with longnose or spotted gar. According to TPWD (http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/landwater/water/aquaticspecies/inland.phtml) you have both, plus alligator & short-nose. They say “entanglement” lures will catch all of them.

If you get a bigger alligator gar, I’d suggest you let him keep the fly. 🙂

    Hey Kent,
Did not mean to poach your images, and thank you for the comments. I will have to give them a try. I seem to find them in shallow, fast current most often. I will see what happens.

Drifter….White Mules? Is that a GA specialty glove?
