Patrick: What would the lense kit include?
I am trying to teach myself Photoshop, but as you might imagine, it is going slowly. And I have an order in for Aperture 2.0. So, I guess it is coming together, despite how ever painfully slow.

MemberMatt,
that’s great advice, one 35mm scan is only $0.19 at 3000dpi. The place here in Dallas was $0.75/scan. And I also talked to some guys about the coolscan, but if I can select the best negs and pay only 19 cents, that’s where I think i’ll go.
thanks y’all,

MemberIf it were only $225, I would do it. But, these were cassettes I rolled myself. But thanks for the ideas w/ the 4400F. I will see what runs around here and on the web.

MemberJohn,
I went into a camera store today and talked to the sales rep. about the 40D vs. D200. In the end, he told me the lenses I have for my Canon EOS Rebels (film) will fit the 40D. Now, while the lenses I have are not “L” series Canon lenses, they will work for now; so, I guess the manufacturer debate is over. I am guessing that the extra 2 or 3 bills for the 40D vs. the 30D is worth it.If, or when, I get the 40D, what other acces. will I need?

MemberThanks John,
I am trying to get pretty serious about this, and I believe I will be doing it for many years. So, I agree w/ you concerning the glass. Maybe to be more accurate, I should have asked you guys what you shoot with and what the pros/cons are in each. I have already learned that it seems D200s are waterproof!

Welcome to the board! I think you’ll find everyone helpful and knowledgeable.

MemberYou may need to help me out a little here Zach. After all, I am still only a fingerling!

MemberScott,
The link you gave is also worth looking at as it had some helpful hints such as elevating the subject inside said box by means of a straightened clothing hanger.Someone, and maybe I will, should put these concepts together and see what comes out. Did y’all see that pic of Zach’s? Anyone know about the construction?

MemberMark,
Thanks man; I had been thinking of PVC as my dad is a plumber. I just did not know how practical it would be. I like the idea of diff. colors for backgrounds, depending on the subject. Now, I just need to learn how to use the Macro on my Nikon point and shoot. Despite my male tendencies, I actually had to get out the instruction booklet. Mon mauvais!

MemberRegarding the name of the Goliath, and assuming I not misinformed, they were previously called Giant Seabass. Then, they were referred to as Jew fish, which understandably got changed after some time to the Goliath Grouper. As I said, assuming my intel. is correct, it would be interesting to know how that fits in with one of our members.

MemberYuhina, or anyone else in the know,
Can you tell me how you made the pic that has a ‘bow in color and the borders are b & w? I have photoshop cs, version 8 I think, and i tried to find it on that with no success.

MemberI was going to start a similar thread until I found yours. I have no answers, but maybe some thoughts…
With adequate lighting, could one be made with a black and/or graphite backdrop?Dusty

MemberHey Neal,
Maybe we should just avoid Orvis topics altogether as they do not tend to get viewed or discussed with any frequency.
Did you say you live in Atlanta? If so, go to the O’ shop and ask for Shannon, the fishing mngr. He’s good people!
BTW, I’m out of the industry now; flyshop wages don’t pay back student loans. It just took me a couple of years to realize that.

MemberNeal,
I have seen some feedback regarding the salt sticks in the Helios line, but most of what I have seen was via other blogs or the web in general. What many seem to be waiting for, myself included, is the mid-Feb. release of the 107-4 Helios, which I intend to string w/ some Sharkskin. As far as the lighter rods, one that sticks out most for me is the 843-4. I could describe it to you, but you have already heard all the associated adjectives. Try one if you can. That being said, when I, or a couple of other guys in the shop, reach for a light stick, we go to our Superfines. I just recently broke my new one in on a trip to Broken Bow, OK, and I absolutely love the full-flex, etc. It’s a roll-casting machine.

MemberI recall making some of the same comments a few months ago, concerning the lightness, accuracy, and overall great feel of the rod, plus the expensive tag, but what ensued was a daily diatribe that almost brought out the “delete thread” button.

MemberMatt,
Awesome! I am trying myself, just having trouble with getting started.
BTW, and I should prob. know this, but what is the song/artist/etc. playing in the show?
