ZACH, I will change my name….I am used to other forums…..I am in North New Jersey….I ran a charter boat ON A FLY out of Manasquan Inlet for about 10 years…got out of the business in 1995…I specialized in off shore fly fishing for tuna….we were lucky and had 3 world records (20lb class)–the 47 lb Longfin Albacore still stands I think! Now, the only thing the wind affects is my golf ball, it is nice not to get my brains beat.
Zach…..I saw your posting re tuna fly gear…..we used Loomis 12-17 wt rods—-, Pate, Abel, Fin Nor, STH reels—-many different line set ups, up to 800gr sinking shooting heads, Teeny lines, all with lots of running line(usually 30lb mono)—-and any fly , as long it was a big white deceiver!!!
all fishing was done at anchor, as one would do chunking tuna with stand up gear….Gene
Welcome Gene and Christine! Nice to have you both on the board! Christine I think you are the only “fly chick” that I know of on the board. I look forward to seeing a “chicks” perspective on some of our topics around here.
