Thanks again David. After I read what you first posted, I had to ring up tech support. I bought the academic version of Aperture, and I was scared I was not going to be able to get the new features because I tried to save some money. good thing for me they termed this one an “update” vs. “upgrade.” It being Friday, and new software waiting for me at home, I think I feel a slight sickness coming on which might require me to leave the office suddenly!
DustyThanks for the info David. I just bought my copy, and I am still trying to learn the program. I have been waiting for the new 2.0 manual to release, which it did last week I think. Are these manuals worth the time and money?

I knew it sounded too good for me to be able to do something like that at home. It would be awesome though if we could we could load our printers with all different types of materials.Dusty
Am I to assume that this idea is absurd, or were y’all gonna wait until I told you about melting a printer?

DustyI have thought about the used avenue, but I have friend who is a pro, and he is adamant about not buying used gear from someone you do not know. I guess I kind of adopted that philosophy as well. But now, I may be back on the Canon side. Evidently, the 40D is 14 bit while the D80 is 12 bit. I only vaguely understand this concept, but it seems that this has an effect on final image results.
Maybe I am putting too much thought into all of this, especially as I seem to wafer with each new sun. Just wanna make sure the grand I end up giving away is worth what I get. So please, keep the info flowing.

Thanks guys. I found the book, but I am waiting to order until Apple releases the Aperture 2.0 manual. That is unless any of you have found one pre-release???

The date for said trip is yet to be determined. I still need to do some research, tie some flies, etc. So, knowing there were some on this board with infinitely more wisdom on this subject than me, I sent out some questions. I am guessing we will try to make it down sometime in April, +/- a month. But most importantly, I am waiting until I have saved enough dinero for a DSLR, which seems to be ever elusive.I heard you were here at Tailwaters this past weekend. How was the event?
Anyone heading to Athens this weekend?

Thanks for the candle idea; the bic was not performing well. I just keep melting line, and I am having some difficulty in removing the shrink-tubing when I am done.
DustyIf you or a family member are a college student, you can get a copy of Aperture 2.0 from the university book store for only $69. One drawback though: when you buy academic software, you are not able to buy upgrades for that software in the future. But for me, saving the $130 was worth it.
DustyWhen I come down to Aransas, will I be targeting mostly Reds and Seatrout? Are there any other species available? What size fish are we talking about here?

DustyA lady from scansafe finally got back to me: Color negs are .19, but B&W negs are .99/each. That coolscan is starting to look more attractive. That is unless any of you have any other ideas.
DustyWhen I was in the flyshop industry, we began to notice that the quality of cork on our rods was declining. The explanation I received was that the lost quality in cork was due to the massive Tsunami that hit a few years back, effectively wiping out whole crops. I cannot validate this, just what I heard!
