If you are interested in a quality lab try CPQ in Cleveland TN which is not to far from where you live. They have some good specials going on right now. They have been in business for a long time and really know what they are doing. http://www.cpq.com

Let me be clear I wasn’t speaking to anyone here directly but I was speaking in the broadest general sense. I have seen some comments on other boards that were pretty malicious and venal in regard to Landon Mayer.

I would agree that some of the marketing is hyperbola, but that’s what you have to do to get attention in a such a fragmented market and it sells.

I see the same thing in my business which is photography. Someone gets good makes a name for themselves then they hit the Workshop circuit make DVDs books etc. It beats working for a living.

In this day and age everybody can be a content creator and Market themselves and if it sells it sells. There a lot of self declared experts in many fields but I think Landon has figured out a way to do what he wants and make a decent living… good for him.

If I had that kind of money to throw at fishing I would probably head up to Yellowstone and get guided for a few days by Blue Ribbon Flies or one of the other outfitters.

I might make some sense if you were a Colorado Angler starting out and money wasn’t an issue.

Just because you are good at something dosen’t mean you can teacher either so it might be like a fantasy basketball camp, you just hang out and obsere and o wow he’s good!

I think Landon Mayer get a fair bit of flack because he is young and he has gained a lot of notoriety fast. I chalk it up to envy and professional jealousy. He and John Barr have done a really good job of marketing and it shows.

I would suppose it would depend on how much it costs. I wouldn’t mind fishing with Ed Engle, John Barr or Landon Mayer they all are much more accomplished than me and I’m sure I would learn something. I don’t know the rest of the guys but I would probably learn something from all of them. It would be interesting know what sort curriculum is going to be offered etc.

I have cached this treasure trove of goodies in a secret cave near a pretty good trout stream in east Tennessee. When the godless mutants roll off of Wall street once they finished destroying the world I will be ready. Any Hawiians out there don’t get any ideas about my Spam either!

I had Winston build a rod for me back in 96 and I think I’m going to get them to build me another one in 09. Judging from their catalog they are getting back to their roots a little bit. Screw the recession, depression or whatever the hell it is! Head over to the fly shop and buy something and fell good about it or its going to be gone! I don’t see Sage, Scott, Winston,T&T etc and the craftmanship they represent surviving through BassPro and Cabelas etc.
    Merry Christmas!

Its getting bad and I think it could get worse before it gets better. I went from July 4th to mid September working 4 day a week but at least I was working.
The Unions are going to take a hit and it will probably severely weaken them going forward. There is plenty of blame to go around though. My Senator and the former Mayor of Chattanooga Bob Corker is out front putting pressure the UAW. There needs to be pressure on all fronts to find a solution because the auto industry drives a huge segment of our economy.
We have a VW plant going in about 2 miles from my home and a Saturn plant in Springhill and Nissan Plant outside of Nashvlle. I think the only plant that is Union is Saturn and from what I hear it may be shut down. The pain needs to start at the top and trickle down but I doubt it will.

Nicotene is so addictive! I smoked and it took me three tries but I finally kicked. Some people have to go cold turkey others can taper off. After the first

I grew up in Richmond and spent a fair bit of time as a kid at the Spiders games. I live just outside of Chattanooga now. I might try to go to the game although the weather may be bad. GO SPIDERS!!!

The Perfect is a nostalgic paper weight! They can keep their pricey reels!

If they made the reel in Korea they probably wouldn’t pass the savings on to the end user.

Be sure you sharpen at your output size as the last step. You might try sharpening using the High Pass filter and Smart Sharpen in CS3 or later.
Google each technique and you will get a lot of info. Bruce Fraser wrote a entire book on sharpening but like most PS Tech books its a real sleeping pill!

Surely the photo would have been better if it was taken with a high end camera, but many of the most memorable photos are taken with small basic equipment. The Leica with its small form factor being easy to carry and use has taken many historical and artistic images in the hands of Cartier Bresson, Robert Capa and Larry Burroughs. Its like they used to say f8 and be there. Having a small easy to carry camera obviously paid dividends for this person.

If the Europeans are upset its because it reminds them of their past! Which they would like to forget so they can repeat it again and again. They should try the American model of Perpetual Guilt and Recrimination.
