Hardy and sister/subsidiary Greys opened their North American headquarters in Lancaster, Pa, last week.

I probably wont make it up there to check, but my locla shop has been carrying the Hardy and new Greys stuff for a couple months (I think they were the first in the country to get anything).

Are all the Hardy reels made in Korea now ?

A picture is thousand words that takes less than a second while a thousand words is a picture that takes a month.

The Perfect are definitely made in England.  I am not sure about any of the others.

And $900. or so for a 5 wt Perfect, I would rather they send the business to Korea on the Perfect as well.

900.00 what a joke!!! They should be made on the moon at that price!

My understanding is that all the reels except the Perfects are made in Korea now.

I was at my local fly shop yesterday…inspecting reels for my future 9wt striper rod.

I grew up there (late 70’s through 1986) and [hopefully] survived TMI.  Thanks for the head up.  I am a fan of Hardy gear so it looks like I need to get back to see family and friends.

The Perfect is a nostalgic paper weight! They can keep their pricey reels!

If they made the reel in Korea they probably wouldn’t pass the savings on to the end user.

    David –

Hardy has slashed its reel prices for 2009 by approximately 40-50% on every reel in the lineup except the Perfect, based on being made in Korea rather than England.

Anybody out there in the market for a ~ 1905-09 (?) Perfect?

Anyone cast Hardy’s new 8′ 5 wt. fiberglass rod? Read a nice review on the glass board, but am curious what others think. (Just what I need, another 5 wt!)

PS- finally got power 4 days after the ice storm here in Albany, NY, 3 nights in 3 different lousy motels with our Great Pyrenees, and my wife’s car squished by the tree that’s no longer upright in the front yard.  Fantasizing about fishing, gear, etc. has kept me going.  Coulda been worse.
