David AndersonMemberNice pix Mike..
IMHO, Sigma have lifter their game a lot of late and are making some seriously good glass.
I’m half thinking about the 150-500 😉www.dsaphoto.com

David AndersonMemberI stick with the hard cases is that it’s quicker and easier to get the camera out (and back in). Pop the latches, and there it is. No hard to open waterproof zippers, no rolling/unrolling, etc.
I hear ya.
I can’t help but think that sooner or later rather than brining out the same old style of camera bags with a new marketing campaign someone will get this tough/waterproof, but not a pain in the ass thing right.
Wishful thinking ? lolwww.dsaphoto.com

David AndersonMemberHey Matt, what about all these new water proof boat bags around ?
Anyone using them ?

David AndersonMemberAs Buzz said, get the dividers – much better than the foam and gives you more room.
I have a few different sizes for different bits of kit, but by far the best has been the 1600’s.
Typically when out on a boat they carry camera gear, tackle and jacket ect. so all I walk on with is a couple rods and the one case.
Everything is 100% protected and worst case, if I ever go in the drink, I bet (hope? lol) it floats..For planes, it gets locked and goes into the hold with reels ect. – never been an issue.

David AndersonMember(do any of you guys use release candidate versions of lightroom?).
Not me.
I don’t like the way Lightroom is set-up around the importing and have stuck with Bridge.
That said, I just got the latest version on the cheap new Photoshop/Lightroom CC deal and will be giving it another try to see if it fits.Back to the camera, an accessory flash that works underwater will put it on a whole different page than the competition.

David AndersonMemberWow, very cool little camera.
Not really pocket sized because the lens is bigger then most P&S cameras, but an excellent, solid build quality.
The menus are pretty well laid out as are the controls and there’s virtually no shutter lag. Will take it to the mountains on the weekend and let you all know how it goes.

David AndersonMemberLove to know what you think of it Matt.
My review one is finally on it’s way (apparently) and I’m hanging to drown it a bit.
I feel it will be pretty handy for the pool and as a camera to stuff in my vest when everything seems to heavy.
Nikon are doing some amazing things lately.www.dsaphoto.com

David AndersonMemberHmmm, just under 3K with the new 50 lens..
No.
It’s awful cute in silver and rings all the right bells for swanning about the place shooting arty farty like, but it’s too much money and a second D800 would be better value (IMHO).Aww bugger it, I still want one..lol

David AndersonMemberThis could launch a whole new market for all the un-loved manual focus lenses as well.
105 2.5 & 200 f4 macro would be top of my list from the olden days..www.dsaphoto.com

David AndersonMemberThey have my interest !
I always loved the FM2 and FE2 so to have digital versions would be something special.
16mp doesn’t quite cut it, but that might not be the final spec.www.dsaphoto.com

David AndersonMemberAs a follow up –
I’ve been shooting a bit with the D7100 (my back-up), the 70-200 2.8 VRII and a Sigma 17- 50 2.8 alphabet soup.
The 70-200 is a cracker (as I expected) and a great match to the unforgiving nature of the 7100.
The Sigma was bought for lazy work with the 7100, but it’s quite a good lens and better than I expected.Only one problem with the 7100 – no flash sync socket.
I feel like a goose for not noticing till the other day in the studio when I looked for one for a couple minutes.
Strange omission, but for the money not really surprising.
Ordered a couple AS-15 sync adapters to fix the problem.Another thing about the 7100 worth a mention is the resolution – the full frame equivalent would be over 50 megapixels so it’s going to really push the lenses.
The macros and the 85 are up to it, but it demands careful attention to detail to get the best out of it.
As a portrait camera it’s (IMHO) not going to match a full frame, but for macro or product photography it’s awesome.www.dsaphoto.com

David AndersonMemberChris how do the flats boats actually get out to Australia? Do they have to ship them over by container ship?
Flat packed ??
(Sorry!)Great stuff Chris.
I think Hinchinbrook is the most beautiful part of the east coast and the fishing is awesome as a bonus. The flats boats are very interesting – but how do they go in the chop ?

Viewed from a distance, it seems a bit silly that things got to the point of all those people being sent from work.www.dsaphoto.com

David AndersonMemberFingers crossed, I have one coming from Nikon to review on my New Zealand trip at the end of the month.
It’s a very interesting new camera IMHO and should be a ripper thing for fisherman no wanting to lug a DSLR or as a groovy addition to a DSLR .
I’ll post some shots as soon as I can, though I wont be back till mid November.
Brett, that’s a very cool photo – took me a minute to realise It’s shot bottom up.

I really like the subtle lighting you do on the subjects – it really lifts them out of the background.
Where’s the camo gear from ?
