The real name policy here is great and should be adopted on all boards.
In fact, I think it should be mandatory on all net use.
IMHO a lot of the scam attitude would go and it would be a better place.
As it is now, the www is like the old New York city and needs a zero tolerance policy to clean it up – real names would be a good start.
As ever, I’m willing to bring my rap music, rope and baseball bat to lend a hand cleaning up should anyone require.. ;D

Have you tried an S.A. XPS #3 on it ?
I haven’t owned the 8’9 #3, but the line works very well on other SLT’s I’ve owned.
(2 & 4’s)The Rio Selective Trout is another I would try – they’re all I use now on anything #3 or under.

Great camera – like the G10, they’re well made, sharp and much better than pocket cameras of old – if you shoot in raw you can get images that are very close to what you would get out of a DSLR with a zoom.
The G11 has a bit less rez than the G10, but much better high ISO performance, but a G10 at the right price would still be nice.
The G10/11’s are the camera I recommend to friends who don’t want a DSLR but still want good pix.

Yep, you have to check out Camerons site – it’s awesome.
Glass rods are sweet and the Scott 7′ #3 is one of my favorites, though I don’t have access to a lot of the smaller brands you get in the US to compare it too.
I don’t think glass rods are better than a good graphite rod really, just a different feel.

I really really wish Apple would make a small lap-top with full OS and USB ect.
Something with a 7′ or 8′ screen would be awesome.If it was tougher (and more reliable) than a normal lap-top would be good as well.
I would carry it around in the camera bag for tethering & backing up on location and maybe even do a bit of editing while traveling…

ianything is really starting to mean isuck as far as I’m concerned with Apple & reliability.
I would probably have one, if both my own, and my wifes iphones had lasted a little longer than 2 weeks without 1 total failure and another needing sending out for a few days to be sorted.
I’ve also had at least half a dozen ipods fail in the family.I think I hate Apple now because I need their stuff, but they make it so poorly.
As I write this, the track pad one my almost new 17′ is not working well and is clearly on the way out.

I’ve always found the best way to do that is by downloading to one, then the other.
The more softwear you add to the process, the more chance of failures IMHO.Simple with computers is best.

2 more thoughts. I heard an author on NPR the other day who wrote a book about world soccer. His theory is that the U.S., China, and someone else (I forget) will soon dominate international soccer. His argument is based soley on population numbers. The worlds biggests populated nations will have more talent to choose from and therefore will eventually end up winning. Not sure I agree, but interesting none the less.
I dunno, New Zealand only has 3.5 (ish) million people and they’re always at the top of world rugby.
I’ve heard a lot of opinion on why that is, including their love of the outdoors, how everyone there is leather tough and how most kids there are born with a ball in hand, but I suspect it’s more to do with the fact that ait’s the number one game by a long long way..Soccer is catching on here since it because more professionally managed and less about ethnic based club teams having local games and then a riot.

I don’t buy much fly gear on-line, but do buy all my cloths from LL Bean now because tall sizes are impossible to get here in OZ because apparently, the Chinese think that like them, we’re all short.

I can’t believe anyone would think them entertaining.
I don’t watch soccer because it’s boring and not a mans team sport like rugby, but the final of the Super 14’s was ruined for me by those stupid horns.
Fair enough, it’s was an all South Africa game in a home ground, but I would be sure it put a lot of people around the world off rugby.I also watched the Springboks play Italy the other night from a ground in London, and the horns have made it there as well.. >:(

My original LR complaint was that you had to import files in the first place – in Bridge you just browse them in whatever and wherever folders.
The library system (as I understood it) was to complex if you fill you computer and need to clear it every 2 or 3 shoots.I don’t want anything other than a quick edit, grade, process and piss ’em off system.
I have a rough system of keeping jobs lined up in various folders on my desktop.
There’s a main folder with job name & date and then a line below of raws, raw edit, Jpegs and sometimes proofs.
When the job is delivered I make a back-up to disk of everything in the main folder and burn a DVD back-up of the graded raw edit.
I sometimes keep the Jpegs around for a few days for the odd time a client needs another disc or can’t find a shot.It’s very simple and visual and easy for me to see if there’s a problem with something an assistant is doing or a mixup of my own.
I was under the impression that with lightroom, I had a big folder with jobs in it, and then sub folders within.
In my experience, it’s very bad news to put folders inside other folders because it becomes much easier to delete something you shouldn’t and sometimes hard to find things.Anyway, I realize I’m a dinosaur with DsIII’s, but I think this stuff is too complex and makes the job take longer.

I also have the 50 1.2 and while it’s a great lens, it’s not quite the original 50 f1.
That said and having shot with the f1, I think the 85 1.2 is better and more useful as a portrait lens because it has less distortion on a head & shoulder portrait than the 50’s.
The 85 1.2L is Canons best lens IMHO.They also cost a lot less, focus faster, are lighter and not impossible to get.. 😉

I don’t think the external sign of wear are any indication of the quality of a used lens.
For example, if you bought my 85 1.2L you would be buying a lens that looked VERY used, but one that was awesome in terms of sharpness.With the high resolution of the current crop of DSLR’s there’s no latitude for mistakes in lens manufacture and until very recently a lot of stuff from the big players has been caught out as sub standard.
As an example, I tried 3 Canon 50mm 1.2 L’s before I found one I thought was up to code.
Nikon had the same problem for a long time as well.Everything I’ve bought new in the last year has been 100% so I assume they have the message.
So, there would be a lot of stuff on the second hand market that might have been rejected by pro’s and you should IMHO have a VERY close and detailed look at pictures from any lens you’re thinking of buying before laying out any money.
Try before you buy.. 😉
