I had a SA Trout on this rod.

I took a RIO Nymph off my Sage SP 9’0″ #5 and put the new RIO LT trout on it and really like it, so.

I figured I’d put one on the SLT #3, I did and don’t find this to be the perfect line for me and the rod.

Anybody got any stick time on a RIO Gold or SA XPS or ?

Have you tried an S.A. XPS #3 on it ?

I haven’t owned the 8’9 #3, but the line works very well on other SLT’s I’ve owned.

The Rio Selective Trout is another I would try – they’re all I use now on anything #3 or under.

A picture is thousand words that takes less than a second while a thousand words is a picture that takes a month.

I use the SA XPS or the SA Trout taper on my 2 and 3 weights.

Rio’s LT is my favourite line for most of my trouting these days. I haven’t used on that rod but i haven’t found a rod I don’t like it on either.

IMHO, every caster is a bit different, so what works for me might not work for you.

The SLT is more of a moderate-flex rod, so keep in mind that today many, if not most, lines are a half-weight heavy. Thoses lines will slow the action of your rod. Is that what you want?

I have this line on a 9`0″ #5 SP and like it, reason I got one for SLT, the #3 line feels rough compared to the #5 and has memory, line is on Nautilus FS 3+ reel, I think I got a “bad” line atleast to me, but I like RIO and am replacing it with another RIO. I have to put more power in my stroke than I did with SA Trout, I fish for fun not work

SA XPS and Trout tapers are not a half line heavy.
