This fish is huge..  Im sorry the photo does not show its size well, some photos make a fish look big, some dont..  We just didnt have much time, and had to get this trophy back to her spawning duties…  I have the phone number of  a guy that helped me, Hes from  Winchester, Virginia and his name is Chris Lewis. He wont be back for awhile as he is in Montana fishing..   We estimated the fish to be in the 10 pound range..

“Are they what you would expect to get on that river or better ? ”    The browns ive caught  seem to have gotten alot of attention in town here also with the photos ive shown..   They dont seem to present themselves very much till fall.    Ive only caught 4 browns that I remember this year..  Almost all in the last 3 weeks or so.. But i dont fish the fall much..  Im supposed to be out practicing with my flintlock..  So If we go from there, and talk about rainbows, ……..I plead the 5th…..  But as for the big browns, no I dont   expect them……    The   browns seem to be pecking at the streamers…   If you set the hook they will probably be gone…  I was using a small streamer becouse it was convienient at that time….    ….  This may have been an issue I dont know…….    🙂

Yes above wolf creek.   Ive been fishing streamers all summer..   They were not very  aggressive at all….. Water may be too warm yet?..  The big guy took a beat up number 10 hook streamer.. Nothing special..

Screen, and Re-search the entire area with small streamers…. They may have moved to find more buggy or deeper/protected  water..  If the smoke plugs the bugs breathing thingys it could be wrecking the cycle of that nymph/fly/etc..  Streamers should work, but you need  be where thier feeding or hiding.. Then when you find where they have moved to you have some options to use what thier actually eating.. ..     🙂  ..

The heavier the head the less false casing and longer casts you can make.. And it manages big flys like bunnies well..
You want the stiffest backing line you can find for  your shooting heads..  I threw the amnesia out first day I used it..   The best shooting mono is some stuff i cant remember the name,  but its getting hard to find, and its dissapearing from the shelves, but very stiff we all used it for leader 15 pluss years ago  before flourocarbon tippit.. ..
Put your heads  on the end of wonderline and youl have the best backing for shooting the stuff ive found…   You can get good heads from rio, they come in 12 foot lenghts with loose ends and you cut it to what you want, and its also heavey.. Costs about 12 dollars here..  You can loop to loop  it onto your dry line when you need it…  I personally keep a 200, 300, 400 rio depth charge line on their own reels… And if im going to be in shallow river spots i have  wonderline  with a short head..  Once you get good one piece sinking flylines you wont go back..
Grease your line with scientific anglers fly line dressing.. It staines the white 300 dc backing to brown, but gets things slippery…
The dams keep shaking loose moss flushing it out of somewhere and I have to be ready for that…  there are two kinds of moss, that floating in the top current , and that growing on the bottom..  You need to be inbetween these two for best streamer fishing..  🙂
Heres a moss busting tip..  On your leader leave the ends of your barrel knots stick out about 1/8 of an inch or slightly more.. When the line hits the water and starts to sink it picksup the surface moss bits and this slides down to the streamer.. Moss on the streamer will not be productive at all..  The mono protrusions picks up this bits and pieces of moss and keeps if off your hook..  This doesnt seem like much but for me probably triples my bites..   This is in a specialty situation tho, maybe you dont have loose moss problems..

I think  your right about the eagle..  There was (is)  a huge golden eagle where I like to fish lately…  About 10 days ago when i first saw him he stood on the bank and didnt leave that spot and screached looking strait at me..  I thought it was wounded and almost gave him a fish…  Finally i saw him about 10 feet up on a tree branch..  I almost called the fish wildlife and parks and told them they had a wonded eagle up there(until he got up on the tree branch)…    thats not too smart of the eagle.  They can easily get poached that way…
