I don’t know the full story, but apparently this fish was found (barely alive) by a guide on the White River near Stetson’s Resort on the White River.  Apparently the guide tried to revive the fish to no avail.  The fish is said to have wieghed 35lbs.  I am sure there will be more info to follow.  It s a nice fish for sure.

Steve Dally or Scott Branyan do you have any more info on the fish below?

That’s a great fish, but do YOU think it’s 35#?

I don’t know.  I haven’t seen this fish.  The guy that shot this photo was Jim Traylor and actually saw the fish.  He called to tell me about the fish, and said it was definitely BIG.

Here is a picture I found on another site of Rip with his fish…..Rip was an older man, so my guess is his frame was smaller than the gent in the first photo.

I haven’t seen the Collins mount or replica that I can remember…..but I might have.

It looks like he is throwing that thing in a frying pan, he is in a commercial kitchen in this shot I take it.

I have some friends who fished the White in May and had three fish over sixteen pounds including a huge twenty two pound female. I love that river system. I have been on several night fishing trips where some huge browns were landed.

They are probably in the process of freezing it to preserve it for the taxidermist.

Seems kind of strange to pay for a mount of a fish that you found half dead in the river to me.

I don’t know.  I read on another board where the mount of this fish will be on display at the lodge near where the fish was found (Stetson’s).  If I had found the fish (and it was fresh and not bloated), I definitely would pay for a mount of it.  I know a few guys that have found B&C roadkills and have gotten them mounted for cabins and what not and that doesn’t bother me so long as they don’t pass it off as an animal that they shot.

For what it is worth — Read a post from JimmyT on another site that the fish measured 38″ and the fish had no hooks in its mouth or gullet.
