Joel ThompsonMemberZach,
You should hook up with Cameron and PoundreRiver and come up to my cabin. The creek is fishing really well and so is the lake. The rest of the state is under restrictions on the rivers and it is not looking good for any relief! The only good part about this is that I might now be able to hook up with Cam and the boys to fish “my neck of the woods”!
You may still be able to fish the yellowstone but it is hard to say. I know some great guides in Bozeman if you would like me to hook you up with someone.

The Itinerant AnglerJoel –
I’m on a limited timeframe, unfortunately, so I really only have the afternoon of the 28th to fish on my own.

Joel ThompsonMemberZach, I just sent an email to a buddy of mine in Bozeman to find out some info for you. As soon as I hear from him I will pass along to goods! 😉 He is a retired guide and fishes all the time so I am sure he will be able to point you in the right direction.

Bill ButtsMemberHey Zach,
If I was flying into Billings, it would be hard not to fish the Big Horn.
Also, a consideration could be one of the great Livingston-area private spring creeks, on your way over to Bozeman.
If you have a choice, ask around if Ferraro’s Italian Restaurant is still well known as one of the better dining places.Jul 18, 2007 at 2:35 pm #18196
Joel ThompsonMemberZach,
I heard back from my buddy in Bozeman and he has recommended going up and fishing the Gallatin in the Canyon. Easy river to wade and easy to read.
He also said it might be tough getting a hotel. But he said the Hilton Garden is pretty nice and close to the down town area.
For a place to eat I would recommend eating at the Chop House in Livingston! Best food around in my opinion.
By the way what is your story about?
Joel

MemberZach,
Lee Orr and I will be flying into Billings on Friday the 27th and fishing the Rosebud and Stillwater (+ tribs) on the 28th before heading south to Big Sky for the rest of the week.

Joel ThompsonMemberDave,
I confess too. I have never caught a brown trout that was doing the DEW!

MemberZach,
If you can get a rod slot, fish the MZ Ranch right there in Belgrade.

MemberI’ll second the gallatin, great river, and easy access – just pull over to the side or the road – perfect for a quick fish with limited time.

MemberZach,
My very limited opinion; we spent a week outside of Bozeman last summer the 3rd week of July.Jul 21, 2007 at 1:25 am #18202ron snow
MemberDave-Nice. Very nice.
That danaged Joel has had me throwing flies all summer. No wonder I don’t hook up with the big hawgs.
I’m going out to get me a case of Dew tomorrow morning. Wonder if they would hit a Red Bull? Maybe a JaegerBomb?

MemberI second the MZ ranch.
