Chad SimcoxMemberBummer about the fishing, but at least it was a skunk in one of the most beautiful places on earth.
I really like the El Capitan and Half Dome photos. The night time shot from the valley is dope.http://society6.com/grainfarmer Fly Fishing and Landscape open edition Photography prints.

Chad SimcoxMemberVery nice. I’m headed to Belize for a few days in December but won’t have the time/chance to do any fishing. This is just going to make working a bit harder knowing that there is good fishing around.

Chad SimcoxMemberSteve,
I think she was at Brooks that season. I know she worked there and the main lodge. Her name is Lindsey, she has blonde hair. She’s done seasonal work since ’06 and has held many different jobs. I think she would have been a cook by then, but may have been doing house cleaning work up there.
I have yet to make it up there, but plan on it at some point in my life…-Chad

Chad SimcoxMemberI have made one, just of a little bit of personal work. I was really pleased with the outcome. They are the On Demand printing company that I recommend to people.

Chad SimcoxMemberI rarely use a tripod, but am thinking of getting one for my Mamiya RB67.
Unless you plan on shooting a lot of long exposure shots or self portraits, I’d say they’re really not necessary for a 35mm sized camera system in most cases. Your lens is probably performing best around ƒ8. With the low noise at highISO in today’s digital cameras and the IS in your lens, you really won’t need a tripod when shooting outdoors (unless for special applications). What type of photography are you needing one for?

Chad SimcoxMemberHaven’t made it out in a while. I have did tie up a bunch of flies for them though. I’m kinda of on the fence about going after them alone, having never landed one I haven’t had to deal with them hands on.
I’ve been meaning to hit the sand for some summer beans. I haven’t checked the surf forecast but I may do that or head up to the San Gabe for some locals.http://society6.com/grainfarmer Fly Fishing and Landscape open edition Photography prints.

Chad SimcoxMemberI like how you’ve got a shallow DOF but not too shallow to lose detail in the insect. Great shots. Same to you Jay and everyone else.

Chad SimcoxMemberThanks Graham, I’ll have to take you up on that sometime. I’m just ramping up a new season of the show I’m editing on so I’m pretty busy through October. I may have some weekends open, if the the crowds aren’t crazy up there I’d be up for a trip. I need to get my 2wt out on the water some more.

Chad SimcoxMemberElkmont + Caddis & BHPT = a good time
Another +1 on LRO, great shop.
I have a 7’6″ 4wt that I bought for those streams but learned I liked a 9′ much better up there. If you’ve got the rooms and the rods, take ’em both.
I came up with a fly I called the Prince Telle to use up there. I combined a prince nymph with a Tellico nymph. It did great. Just tie up a prince nymph, but used yellow floss and an ostrich herl ribbed boddy instead of just the ostrich body. I put a lot of lead wrap on mine to get em down deep quickly in the pocket water.

Chad SimcoxMemberLooks like an amazing trip. Had this been 2007-2009 my old roommate/college friend would have been the ones cooking your meals for you at the lodge. She always had some amazing photos from up there and some huge rainbows too!
Just a tip on PSing your motion blurs, first paint the airplane out of the photo, apply the blur, then recomposit the plane back in. That’s an obviously unnatural motion blur (you missed a spot between the landing gear and the plane!)
Love the end of the day shot with all the cubs.

Chad SimcoxMemberI edit on my 2.16GHz MBP (1GB of RAM) on Final Cut Studio 2. It can be a pain with HD video when doing multiple layers, but that’s to be expected.
I don’t know anything about iMovie but it should work fine on your MBP. Just make sure you never edit with files in an H.264 codec! Even the biggest/baddest systems will struggle with that codec in an editing program.http://society6.com/grainfarmer Fly Fishing and Landscape open edition Photography prints.

Chad SimcoxMemberHey Graham, I think I commented on one of these Leo shots on your flickr page. Your realistic flies are amazing, I’m going to have to check out Grown Ups and look for those moths.

Chad SimcoxMemberGSNP is one of my favorite places to fish and I love that area of the park. Great job framing the shot, the layers are great. The light is amazing, I really like the details in all areas of the frame. The shot really takes me back to TN and makes me miss fishing those waters.

Chad SimcoxMemberCould for sure use front fill. Just use white paper, poster board, tshirt, whatever you’ve got to bring some light back into the front of the fly. Otherwise good start.
