First of all, yes, it is easy to do.  BUT, if you are only going to replace one guide, it may not be worth it to get set up.  You will need to set up some type of wraping platform, then you need to get the right thread and then you need to get rod finish epoxy, which is not the same as from Home Depot, then you will have to get the right stripping guide that will match the rest of the rod.  Buying one guide on line is not practical since once you pay shipping, you are paying double the price.

Are you in New Orleans.  If so call:

PROFESSIONAL SPORTS SHOP – 920 JULIA ST, NEW ORLEANS
    504-522-3771

Tell them what you have and get a quote.  It shouldn’t be that much.

If you have someone do it, make sure they single wrap the guide and put on a thin coat of epoxy.

For those that have never been….Deep Creek is 4-weight water. Her’s a photo from 10/20/06.

…and for the photogs in the bunch, there are at least three waterfalls within a half mile of the campground. Zach/Lauren…it’s still a little early for me to commit on staying at the campground but I’ll at least stop by Friday or Saturday evening to say “Hello” and share a few fish stories.

I want to reserve this spot for the weekend.

Sign me up for a spot.  Right now I will be by myself with my own tent.  My son may come with me, but I doubt if Brenda will make it.  She has to work and hates roughing it and fishing.

I collect fishing shirts.  A man can’t have enough fishing shirts.  I’m worse than a woman and shoes (sorry Lauren), I just can’t pass up a good fishing shirt on sale.    I have light blue fishing shirts, dark blue fishing shirts, medium blue fishing shirts, white fishing shirts, khaki fishing shirts, orange fishing shirts, green fishing shirts, I even have a yellow fishing shirt.

Just out of curriosity, if you had to pick 3 fly patterns for this trip, what would they be.  I don’t think my 2/0 decievers would be much use.  My freshwater flybox is pretty much limited to dry flies and terrestrials, so I would need to start stocking up.

I doubt if you need a permit to hunt gators in Indiana.

Bob, if you make the trip after recovering from Guillain-Barre Syndrome I will personally carry you to the river to fish each day!!!

Actually the recovery is coming along quite nicely.
