Greetings All,
As some of you know, I have been on a long road trip with my family over the last 4+ months. While I haven’t done a huge amount of fishing, I have fished like crazy over the last month or so. Of all the places I went, Silver Creek in Idaho stood out as an incredible place.
For those of you who haven’t been there, Silver Creek is a tremendous spring creek, with incredible hatches, big fish, and blanket hatches. We timed our arrival there to meet the trico hatch and it worked out. I have never seen a hatch so thick.
In addition to the great fishing, the scenery and history of this place are fantastic. The Nature Conservancy owns a big chunk of the river, thanks to Jack Hemingway’s (and others) efforts to preserve a place where Ernest Hemingway and other famous early sportsmen fished and hunted.
In my mind, there is nothing like fishing small flies, on light tippets, to big fish. Silver Creek brings that in spades. Here are some pictures.
