Bob RigginsMemberMy recipe is much simpler than that:
Some tomatoes, chopped
Some onions, chopped
Some fresh cilantro, chopped
Some jalapenio peppers, chopped
Some garlic, chopped
Some olive oil
Some red wine vinigar
Some salt and pepperIt looks a little unorganized, but it always turns out good.
Bob RigginsMemberWe don’t have makos much in inshore waters, but spinner sharks and black tips will do the same thing. If you think that was fun, try it out of a kayak. The ride is great, but landing them can be a challenge.
Bob RigginsMemberHope you are doing well Sante.
Bob RigginsMemberIt doesn’t have to be a downward spiral.
20 years ago the speckled trout and redfish populations were close to total collapse.
Bob RigginsMemberYou could Google “poling platforms” there are a lot of people who make them. Most run $650+ plus installation.
Since he is moving to New Orleans, I recomment the cajun poling platform/tower. You can get it at any hardware store, its cheap and you just have to tie it in securely.
Bob RigginsMemberJanuary started out with a bang. Fishing was good and I won the fly division of the PFC kayak tournament. Life was great.
February found me collapsed in a heap in the hospital parking lot. Diagnosis, Guillian Barre Syndrome. It seems my immune system had issues with my nervous system and excercised the Bush Doctrine. After 11 days in the hospital and 6 plasma replacements, I was able to walk about 25 feet with the aid of Brenda, a nurse and a walker. From there to inpatient rehab to learn how to walk again.

By the end of March I had graduated to a cane and could walk about 500 feet (a miraculous recovery for GBS). That didn’t stop me from following my Tigers to the NCAA basketball finals however. Here I am in San Antonio with Brenda and Penny Hardaway. Notice the wheel chair and cane.

Recovery was slow, but I was working hard at the gym to increase my strength and stamina. By May, I was desparate to get out fishing. I even went out to the front yard to chase the ellusive grass trout.

I’ve learned a lot over the last year, about faith, health and life. I’ve also learned a lot about the kindness and compassion of family, friends and even acquaintences, if you will just give them a chance to help. At the end of May I was finally able to get back on the water, with the help of a bunch of my kayak buddies.

Now I’m looking forward to October 17. My feet are still a little numb, I still have some lower leg pain and my balance is still a little off, but, all in all, it’s been a great year.
Bob RigginsMemberSince I will not be providing any equipment, I will supply all the eggs, bacon, grits, etc. of the other breakfast.
Bob RigginsMemberRight now, all I have is a fork, a knife, a spoon, a plate, a cup, a 1 burner backpack stove and a sleeping bag. As you can see, I’m not a big camper. I plan on buying a tent and an air mattress.
I will be more than happy to supply any food necessary. Maybe I can bring a couple dozen eggs and bacon for the other (non pancake) breakfast.
If we have electrical service, I can bring a 10 cup coffee maker. I don’t have anything for stove or fire though.
From the post, I assume everyone is responsible for their own lunches and we are going out to a restaurant one night. Does this sound right?
Is anyone flying into Atlanta and ariving late Thursday evening? If so, I am driving up from Florida and may be able to time picking you up.
Bob RigginsMemberNow that’s funny.

Bob RigginsMemberWelcome to the world of modern air travel. I have become resigned to the fact that I am going to be miserable for the duration of the travel, and at some point will miss a connection or have a flight cancelled. Be thankful you have a seat. I heard that the new planes will be equiped with cattle pens.
PS: have you tried going on line and changing your seat. My wife does it all the time, but I don’t know how she does it.
Bob RigginsMemberBeautiful.
Bob RigginsMemberFirst of all I am the husband to a great (though non fishing) wife, Brenda.
Second, I’m an avid Flyfisherman, mostly saltwater from a kayak.
Bob RigginsMemberI’m sure that it is a great magazine, but I find having to turn pages with the cursor to be so amazingly annoying, I gave up on it. I read This is Fly for a while until they started smoking to much of the funny weed.
Bob RigginsMemberGreat shots Zack.
Bob RigginsMemberWhere is the picture of the biscuits and gravy? Don’t you know that no report is complete without a picture of food. 😉
Looks like a great trip with great pictures. I’m looking forward to the Smokies in October. Hopefully, that trip will be just as good.
Bob RigginsMemberCongratulations Zach.
Bob RigginsMemberI’ve pretty much abandoned hard body poppers due to the difficulty of casting them.
Bob RigginsMemberI agree.
