The Itinerant AnglerSo I booked my trip to Denver for the Retailer Show through Travelocity. I did real well. I paid $575 all told for round trip airfare and three nights in an Embassy Suites in Downtown Denver. Last year I paid almost that much just to stay in the infamous Comfort Inn with the hooker’s ditty bag in the closet.
But I knew there had to be a catch, and I just found it. I got my airline confirmation. I had booked my flight out to sit in seat 13C up in the front of the plane. Sometime between July and now, Delta decided they needed to cram a few more warm bodies into their biggest planes. When the airplane got reassigned, apparently, I got bumped to seat 44C – all the way in the back.
I called Travelocity and was put on hold for ten minutes. So I called Delta Airlines.
Let me give you a little summary:

Delta Chandrashakaan: F–k you, come again!
Me: Right.

Delta’s customer service guy Veejay, is not the best bet.Sep 11, 2008 at 1:33 pm #29220mark s
MemberJust have a couple of cocktails and enjoy the fact that you saved money, that’s usually what I do.
Always the option of also trying to get an exit row the day of, or stop by the airport the night before and check in (you can’t usually pick exit rows online).

Cameron MortensonMemberThe experience of flying on a plane now a days is no more than getting from Point A to Point B.

MemberZach do me a favor at the show and check out the Mangrove waterproof gear bag. Should be in booth 349. I’d like to know if its worthy of a camera boat bag.

Bob RigginsMemberWelcome to the world of modern air travel. I have become resigned to the fact that I am going to be miserable for the duration of the travel, and at some point will miss a connection or have a flight cancelled. Be thankful you have a seat. I heard that the new planes will be equiped with cattle pens.
PS: have you tried going on line and changing your seat. My wife does it all the time, but I don’t know how she does it.

The Itinerant AnglerActually, Bob, that is working out for me.

MemberIf there is one company that stands out in my mind as the absolute worst customer service, it would have to be Delta. Hands down. But the airline industry as a whole seems to struggle in this department. Either way, sounds like you got it handled. Have a good trip man.

chris zandoMemberCheck out a website called insidetrip.com that gives useful ratings on individual flights and tips on how to ease the pain.
Just remember that cheap airfare is like going to Sam’s Club……..it ain’t going to be pretty but get you through.

MemberWell you’re right about Delta service being much worse than it used to be, but it’s all relative.
