Bob RigginsMemberI like jazz and Led Zepplin.
Bob RigginsMemberIf I count my kayak, I would say about $2,000, but this is way more than I typically spend.
Bob RigginsMemberI’m not up on specific photographers, but I like good photography.
Bob RigginsMemberIs that the aquarium in Gatlinburg.
Bob RigginsMemberI live within 5 miles of some of the best saltwater flats in the state, use a kayak and haul it on the top of an Outback (25+ MPG). So yes, my fishing has been affected. There are a lot fewer stinkpots on the water. ;D
Bob RigginsMemberWelcome aboard Phil.
Bob RigginsMemberBeautiful pictures Zach.
Bob RigginsMemberOh Susanna, don’t you cry for me.
I’m goin’ to Montana with a fly rod on my knee! You lucky dog.
Bob RigginsMemberCasting competitions make no sense to me anyway.
Bob RigginsMemberThe SA Mastery Headstart line is a nice, all purpose line for about $35.00.
Bob RigginsMemberThanks Zach and Fly-Boy.
I read your comments and looked at the review link, along with a couple of more I found and decided on the Canon S2 IS.
Bob RigginsMemberI use the stock 50 mm that came with it plus an 80 -200 zoom lense that works pretty good.
Bob RigginsMemberGood article Zach.
Bob RigginsMemberIf my high school latin still serves my right, it would be something like.
“Do not despair, there’s alway trout.”
Which leads to my high school motto:
“Semper ubi, sub ubi”
Bob RigginsMemberSeems like it would be difficult to find a small enough balloon for your type of fishing, but balloons are used all the time in saltwater, but probably for a different reason.
In salt balloons are used as a float to drift a bait away from a stationary platform, either a dock or an anchored boat.
Bob RigginsMemberThat’s a good question.
Bob RigginsMemberI’ll second “The Yellowstone Fly-Fishing Guide”,
Bob RigginsMemberI thought you might like the picture.
Bob RigginsMemberSharks and dolphin are two fast to really get bumped. I have paddled along side of dolphin a number of times. They seem to like to play. Manatee are the biggest hazard. I’ve been bumped twice by manatee. Once in deep water in the middle of the bay and once when I paddled over one in shallow water. They can make quite a splash when startled.
Bob RigginsMemberMost recently I have been going out in the kayak. I usually go out very early in the morning, before sunrise. That way, if something goes wrong, at least its not to long until light. It is also very peaceful in the hours before dawn. I have some friends that go out late in the evening. I may go with them sometimes, but it’s not a good idea to go out by yourself that late.
I used to wade in the dark, but its not really a good idea, at least where I fish most of the time. Besides the normal problems with not being able to see underwater obstructions, there are stingrays and sharks. Although I am not really afraid of sharks, they do feed more aggressively just before sunrise and just after sunset. All things considered, I’d rather be in the kayak.
