MemberYou will need to get another pair since they don’t even last a season. More like CloudFail.
their rep over here told me that the pair that he got leaked right out of the box
Their rep told you that? With reps like that, no wonder they gave up on their fishing line…
Either way, I hate to hear that they are getting out of the industry, but if they are selling to a big box, I doubt that they are too concerned.
My patagonia wading jacket and my simms g3 waders are on season 6 with no worries

MemberNeil, you should be fine with either, just be careful when ratcheting down your kayak to the front/rear of the vehicle, that you do not over stress it.
I have a tahoe with the factory rack and I strap mine on it with regularity and it does fine.
I would keep the rack that you have though and install it because it might project out further and prevent door or mirror damage in the event that your kayak falls off of the side of your car while loading/unloading.

MemberDavid, I use RPLX 690 and Rio 15′ 7wt sinking line and a nautilus FW7 reel. It is a stud with Gallup style streamers and close 40′ or less casts.

Memberlooks like a successful hunt Zach. Did Lauren outshoot you?

MemberI have heard the same thing and I by no means want to revisit the new warranty policy or their new management approach.
I personally feel better spending my money with fly fishing rod manufacturers via fly shops as opposed to bigger box stores (when it comes to fly fishing).
The GLX classics were not beauty queens either, until you cast one! Performance wise, I would expect nothing but the best from them.

MemberDamn dude, I really miss that boat! I am still on the hunt for a G3.
I gotta say, it looks great with the wood, I had similar ideas but never put the time into getting it going.
Were you able to recover your anchor yet?
nice brownie by the way. It looks like the soho? I am going to try to get up there before the new year.

MemberMichael, I like the way you roll!

Membernice poonage!

MemberGreat looking boat Michael, especially if you got a great deal on it. I like that it matches your truck. I think that I met your son in west yellowstone a few years ago.
Dave, I would love to see pictures of your project when you finish.

Memberthat would work in theory if the sleeve diameter was bigger than the split ring that keeps the oar lock from popping out. The split ring was about 1-1/4″ diameter so that would be some serious modifying of the fiberglass gunnel as a result that would question the strength. I have an engineering degree as does my father in law who manufactures farm equipment. We looked at a lot of options and there was not a simple fix.
The best fix would have been to have had a machinist make a longer oar lock and put spacers in it to raise it up to the desired height, which I looked all over for. OR lower the seat.
Luckily, modern boat manufacturers have taken into account these angles in their low profile designs and raised the area around the oar locks.

MemberI scoured for a longer oar lock than the standard shaft NRS or Sawyer cobra and there is nothing out there that i could find. NRS told me that the mold would cost thousands of dollars to make longer ones.
I took the poly support bushing out of the bottom and flipped it over to the top but it only gave you 1.5″ which partially fixed the problem. Ro raised the gunnell at the oar locks about 3″ which would make it similar to other boats and eliminate the issue on most people. I had 8’9″ oars which were about as short as you would want to go.

MemberLando, that would look good behind a 2011 Range Rover! ha ha
If I were to buy another bathtub I think that I would look really hard at the Clacka Flypod. I really like storage and organization, and that is the best approach to an uncluttered boat.
Zach, the one thing that drove me crazy about my 14′ southfork skiff was storage. It got really cramped with 3 anglers and made for a string of broken rods. I am not a fan of the hand release anchor and the gunnel height at oar mounts were also way too low and you would hit your knees when rowing.
When Robert Eddens @ Ro bought the molds and rights to SFS, he really addressed these shortcomings of the older models while retaining the classic hull and look. Robert is a great guy that builds a hell of a boat! I was always pleased with his customer service.

MemberSteve, have you shot any underwater video with your canon? I watched a HD underwater video with a G12 and canon’s underwater housing that looked really cool (once you get into the diving about 1 min into it).

MemberWell done Stu! Was that an unplanned swim you said? either way you documented it well!
I really like the shot of the hand tailing the brown

MemberI got a rod back 2 weeks ago that was sent back the 1st week of September. 8 weeks isn’t that bad for me though, considering I may get 1 day a week to fish and it took me 3 months to mail it in to them.
A few years ago I lost a sage in a parking lot at the river. Another guide found it, called the serial # into sage. They called me with his contact info to aid me in getting it back. Probably the best customer service that I have experienced anywhere.
After that I can probably turn a blind eye to taking a while to repair an out of production rod that would not have been broken had it been transported in its tube (and I now always fill in warranty cards).

MemberAnd Zach you didn’t even mention line stretch!
