It’s a good thing I haven’t gone there.  How could I ever resist buying a monkey head?

Last time I ventured south of the border, I was in college and still had my long hair, and everybody tried to sell me drugs.  EVERYBODY.  The vendors selling lemonade on the sidewalk would open a secret compartment and whip out the drugs.  Apparently, looking like an extra from a Cheech and Chong movie sends a strong message.

This post is useless without pics.

Figures, just as soon as I get into the sport it goes to hell in a handbag… Once you let the rednecks in elitism goes out the window.

If the reel is sentimental I wouldn’t consider either option. I would buy a cheap reel for travel. If it isn’t, I think having it shipped would be the best overall solution. I had to file a claim for some damage that Fed Ex did to my outboard. It was not that bad once I got the right person on the phone. Sometimes you just gota say Please let me speak to a person who still has a pulse and some brain wave activity. The check was mailed that day!

Bryan I make time. If I don’t get out enough, I become really hard to live with.

Zach, the beaver was on the caney and the Carp were on Priest.

I wonder if the bleach had a negative effect on the glue BD?

I am also in need of some new boots but mine just wore out. Are the Simms worth the extra $$$?

Is there a certain time of year to find them? I would be interested in a trip to fish for those creatures. Can you share more info?

A green woolly bugger. My first tie.

Another green woolly bugger. My daughters first tie.

Any of my Sig V Dan Craft rods. Can’t get them anymore

G-Loomis GL3 6wt. The first fly rod I ever built.

The memories of good times with good friends and family spending time on the water. Those are the most valuable things I own period.

Dan did Grumpy give you a rod to use? I might be shouting at you this week after work if the schedule permits. But then again my wife is going in for back surgery tomorrow so this week might be full, we’ll have to see how things go.

Carter, yes I did. I thought it might be a Carp. The water was very muddy as you can see in the boat pic. At first I thought I hooked a Stump. Then the stump swam under the boat. Very cool fish.

Zach, yes we were sight fishing on Percy Priest for Carp and not the Caney. In non muddy conditions you can sight fish to 7 to 10 pound Carp that readily take a fly all day. There is about 3/4 a mile of knee deep mud flat that stays full of Carp all summer. Standing on top of the console you can literally put a fly in ones face from 60 feet away.
We got slammed by rain all last week and the water had almost 0 vis. BD can testify of the numbers of fish we spooked because we just couldn’t see them.

The Simms shot was done under fluro lights (not enought light) without a tripod. It could have been better but even at low quality there’s something about it that I also liked.

    Word.

in reply to: Bass Rod Recommendations #11970

Any fast 7 or 8 wt, I would have both, an 8 for a shooting head and a 7 with floating line. Zach recommends the Rio Clouser line and just from looking at it, it looks like a great bass line.
Fast rods I like and have used are the Cabelas FT, Sage XP, and my custom Dancraft FT and Sig V’s in any weight. Temple Forks is supposed to be a nice rod but I nave not used them.
I don’t Bass fish unless nothing else is eating so maybe some others can be more helpful.
