I tore my right rotator cuff in a wrestling match with a drunk. Either I am one hell of a pussy or this is a hugely painful injury. Double doses of Hydrocodone are not even touching it right now. Anyone ever have the same injury? What were/are the long term effects on your fishing?

I wish there were a story, but it was really nothing that I haven’t done a thousand times before. No UFC action at all. He went one way and I pulled the other and it just popped. My Doc said that most injuries like this happen when the arm is overhead. Mine was at chest level. All the dope bottle says is Hydrocodone BT-Ibuprofen TB. I think that I am going to make a call today and get something with a little more kick. I don’t think that I am a junkie yet, but I can see how it could happen. Isn’t denial one of the first signs?

…and I had a line on a secret bass pond and was supposed to go last saturday.

RC tears seem to vary a lot in painfulness, depending on the individual – some folks say they don’t hurt much at all unless they move their arm wrong (usually moving it away from the body or above chest level).  Others find it extremely painful all the time.

The best I can tell you is to hope you have a very good surgeon, and do your post-surgery physical therapy religiously.  Don’t do more than they tell you, but don’t skimp on anything they tell you to do, either.

If you’re like most people, your pain will be vastly improved after you recover from surgery, but you may have some residual loss of range of motion.

Of course, when I talk to casting instructors, they’re always telling me to keep my arm down and tight to my body, which is probably what you’ll need to do for your shoulder.  Maybe in the long run, this whole experience will make you a better caster.   🙂

sorry to sound like a street pharmachist but, yeah, those sound like Vicoprofens which are probablly pretty weak (under 10 mg of hydrocodone each probablly).

Is chasing drunks a new sport I haven’t heard of yet. Sounds dangerous.

    #11924

    Well Steve is a cop.

It’s similar to chasing people with expired registrations, give or take a few beers.

    (Sorry guys; inside joke).

    #11928

yeah, but I’ve got to go renew my registration first.

    #11929

Go ahead and drink the beers, and THEN go apply for your registration.

If only I didn’t have that blasted court ordered breathalyzer attached to my ignition, its okay my electronic ankle braclet probablly won’t let me get far anyway.

Man, Carter, you just reminded me of that scene in the 40 Year Old Virgin where Steve Carrell is tricked into blowing into the breathignition of some crazy drunk chick.

I honest to god have had someone ask me to do that for them once.
