MemberI am mostly refering to the 13′ Gheenoe since the B60 is more skiff like then canoe like. I know I can’t pabble the B60 as fast a you can paddle the Canoe. The B60 is made for remote power and not paddle power.
A smaller Riverhawk or Gheenoe would only be slightly slower under paddle power and still be stable enough to stand up in. Try this in a 13′ canoe.

BTW I paid $300.00 for my 13′ Gheenoe and sold it for $300 a year later. Ebay has them often.Mike Anderson
MemberYes I have a Riverhawk Steve. I have also had a few canoes, an inflatable dingy with outboard, a Gheenoe, Jon boat, and almost every other fresh water boat you can think of. If you plan on fishing while in the boat then a Riverhawk or Gheenoe is going to be your best deal period. They paddle almost as good as a Canoe and you can literally stand on the gunnels without flipping them over. They will go anywhere a canoe will go and don’t weigh much more then a decent stable canoe would. There really is no comparison between any canoe and the Gheenoe or Riverhawk as far as stability goes. I am prepared to back that statement up any time.

MemberNice, I’ve been away from the board and email for a bit but its good to see your making progress with the left handed thing. Â Like I said I’ve cast a bit with the left hand but I can’t say as i’ve actually caught anything left handed, thats got to feel pretty good, especially when its your only option.
I tried it left handed and all the problems I used to have with my right hand are now on my left. It’s funny how casting isn’t as much about knowing what to do and more about muscle memory.

MemberWhat fly? I know Quills have to be soaked but I’ve not heard of soaking biots. Of course that isn’t really saying much…

MemberI put them in the mail today. 😮

MemberSteve I think the Orvis BBS is the best reel for the money bar none. They are light weight, dependable, extremely simple, very nice drag, and not to bad to look at either. A lifetime reel no doubt.

MemberShe took a Clouser. I wasn’t really Striper fishing but I did catch a few small ones prior to that fish. The beauty of a Clouser is just about anything will attack one.

MemberIn answer to rule 1 try an Albright knot. There aren’t a lot of instances when one would want to connect materials of such dissimalar sizes, shock/bite tippets being the most obvious, but an Albright is very secure and takes less time and material than something like a bimini twist. Â Rule 4 is dead on.
I use the albright on my streamer leaders where I go from 2′ 30# 2′ 20# and 2′ 10#. The albright is also a great backing to fly line knot. Much better then a nail that can cut the fly line and slip off.
BTW Carter thanks fot the leader tip! I just bought 20 12′ leaders for $20.

MemberI caught some of them last weekend on a Comparadun. They almost always swallowed the fly and removal is complicated with Gerber’s. I tore up several flies in the process but I love that aggressive topwater take.

MemberI’ll call you later.

MemberWell, without pics its just a story but here is my post from my site.
I had cast my fly into a turbulent pool and was on the sixth or seventh strip when I felt a solid thump. I set the hook into what felt like the bottom. It didn’t take long to know I was not on the bottom as I ever so gently fed the remaining line off littered boat floor and thru the guides to get the fish on the reel. The initial run took off several feet of line and I was convinced I had hooked a Striper. I reached down and tightened the Ross Evo’s drag several clicks to try and turn the fish. Thats when it leaped completely out the water and I knew it wasn’t any kind of Striper and was most likely a Trout, and a really big one at that. Thoughts started screaming through my mind about what to do next. First lets get it into some calmer water. I pointed the trolling motor towards the calmer water and put some pressure on the fish. Again it leaped completely out of the water this time closer and I got a good look at the size of it. My God that’s a huge fish! This is when the uncontrollable shaking began…Ok I got it into a little calmer water now I better try to get the net ready. I had to work my way to the back of the boat and untangle and extend the net while fighting the fish at the same time. I got the net ready and was back in the front of the boat and putting all the pressure 10 fluro and an 8wt rod can stand on this fish. Again it leaped completely out of the river and I get a good look at what without a doubt was the largest Brown I have ever had. After the third jump she was just about to give up and I was able to get her close to the boat but she was still too deep to net. Holding the Net in one hand I raised the 9’ rod high in the air and was looking the fish right in the eye. That’s when I saw the problem. The fly was in the side of the fishes mouth with the hook eye pointing towards her tail and I was putting opposite pressure on it. Before I could lower the rod the Brown made one last head shake away from me and the fly just popped out. I watched the fish slowly submerge into the dark with my fly slowly sinking behind it. This is the stuff dreams and nightmares both are made of. I can’t begin to explain the rush of feelings one goes thru when you hook something so grand as this and just when it’s within reach,, it isn’t. A guy in a red Gheeneo that had Quitha Bitchin written on the side said he got a good look at it and acknowledged that it indeed was a giant. She’s still out there.
As I lay in bed last night all I could see when I closed my eyes was that beautiful Brown leaping, and me wondering just how big was she. I can say with certainty that it was over ten pounds but it’s the how much over that still makes me feel sick to my stomach. My guess was about 32-34″ of leaping female Brown Trout. The area I was fishing has produced a few 12 to 18 pound Browns in the past.

MemberZach I think it’s fair to say we caused a little bit of talk on the boards about it lately. ;D
Alot of people love it and some people just refuse to change no matter what. I never knew people could get worked up so much over a knot…

MemberGlad you got everything worked out.

MemberWhy, if everything else we buy is made in China, are we still making harmful chemicals like oven cleaner here?
