MemberTim,
And to add to the Michigan lovefest, I am in Lansing right now, but I move to the Cascade area next month. Anyone ever fished muskies in or around the GR area? I’ve heard that they are in the Thornapple, and the new house is right across the street from the river. Not like there isn’t enough water to fish in the area, but I am always up for some toothy critters.Dave,
I grew up in Ada, right next door to Cascade. The Thornapple has some decent pike but I’ve never heard of there being muskie. Not that there arent any, but I just have never found them. Never looked either. I’d think it’s a good bet though, you should scope it out.
What the Thronapple is best known for is the smallies. Loads of them from Ada to Alaska. Worth a fish.
Small world.

MemberPoint is I think Zak’s response seemed awkward and somewhat “angry”. Maybe Zak should have used all-caps.
ZACH runs a tight ship indeed. But this website wouldnt be what it is without a consistent moderator. As much as I love poking fun at Zach and his website, I think it’s the best Fly Fishing Forum, hands down. And I think most who have been here for a long time would agree that the reason they’ve stuck around is because of the great place Zach his built this place into.
(Poor guy must hateThe Drake Board!)
That is funny on so many levels.

MemberAlan, your blog has some beautiful illustrations. Did you draw those? Spectacular.
And dont worry about Zach, his panties get in a bundle when people say trout are stupid. But we all know, they are very stupid indeed.

MemberNot sure about 8 hours, cottonwood pass opened it’s 4 1/2, or through monarch pass 4 1/2-5 into the canyon.
Maybe by google maps it is, but I’ve never made it there that fast.

MemberFor what it’s worth, Cheeseman Canyon of the S. Platte is an easy day trip from Denver.

MemberThe Gunnison is about 8 hours from Denver (by car), just to keep in mind.
But it’s worth it.

MemberLooking forward to hearing from Derek, i actually met him at a local art fair in michigan (grand haven) right after he quit whatever he did for a job before painting full time, and was still living here. Seemed like a cool cat, i should have bought some of his stuff before he got so popular!!
I think I was at this same art fair too because I had a similar conversation with him.
