MemberWe used about a quarter of a tank. Just guessing I would say it gets about 10-12 miles to the gallon. I was really happy with the way everything worked out today. Now we just have to get dialed in to those carp…..

Steve K.MemberQuestion…..When the person in the bow is false casting…..does the boat rock enough to generate ripples that might spook fish? Curious because I’m trying to decide between a Gheenoe and a much wider Riverhawk B60.
Thanks.

The Itinerant AnglerSteve –
That’s a technique thing, not a boat thing.

Steve K.MemberI see what you’re saying. I’ve never thought of it that way but now that you mention it…. I’ve noticed that some folks that fish out of my driftboat rock it a lot more than others. It’s typically folks that don’t flyfish a lot from a small boat.

MemberSteve,
I haven’t noticed any issues with it. I know you are in the area, so if you want to come join us on the river one day I would be happy to have you come check it out. Always better to test drive before you buy…On another note, my brother David (also a board member) and I got back out there today and had a great time. David caught a really nice carp that put on quite a show. It jumped completely out of the water at one point. Pretty awesome. I love the Gheenoe!
I took a bunch of pictures of it, but I forgot to adjust my camera settings and all the shots were completely blown. Oh well. Lesson learned. That’s just one more reason to get back out there.

MemberBack to the flats tonight. We were on the water before 6:30 which meant we had about 2 hours to fish. We had a great time.
Zach was up first and it didn’t take too long to hook up.

His background as a male model makes it difficult to get what I would call “a normal fishing photo”, but I admire his intensity and dedication to his craft….

I am sure he will post some more pics soon enough. I must say I am enjoying the boat.

MemberThat is pretty funny to be mistaken for twins. We are actually five years apart in age.
Hey Ward, I would love to bring it up to Cola town. Dave and I have been trying to figure out when we can make that happen. I heard you got a new boat as well. Let’s see a report. I want to see some striper pics…….

MemberOne thing I have discovered recently is that boat owners seem to garner a strong sense of pride and self worth based on their ability to launch a boat quickly and efficiently. I am no exception to this. After every successful attempt, Zach, David and I nod approvingly at each other and motor proudly down the river as if we own it.
This has actually only happened once however, because I have also discovered that I posses a real knack for forgetting one critical detail: the plug.
As I was reminded (for the third time) yesterday, one needs to install the plug or one will look stupid. Upon backing the boat off of the trailer I quickly discovered that I was sinking at an incredible rate and made a mad dash for the shore. I then proceeded to bail like a madman while bystanders ridiculed and Zach and David tried to act like they didn’t know me. We then jumped in the boat avoiding eye contact and shaking our heads disapprovingly and motored humbly down the river as if it owned us.
Stupid plug.
