I do the bike thing as well…..bought a cheap mountain bike off craigslist. Dump the boat upstream….drive truck and trailer to downstream ramp. Ride bike back up to the boat. Chain it to a tree or throw it in the boat.

    Jason,

I’m glad you mentioned the Cabelas glass rod. I’ve been thinking about picking up a 4 weight…..not bad for 99 bones.

BTW…..about 22 years ago I was carrying my son in a similar pack. I’ve got a similar photo of him peering over my shoulder at a brown trout near Little Bottoms on the Little River in GSMNP.

    Good stuff….Thanks for posting.

Delayed Harvest opened this past Saturday in NC….and the browns are getting ornery. I should have some post worthy photos (hopefully) in the next few weeks.

Dude…..you scared me for a minute. I thought you were getting out of the u/w photography game altogether.

If you haven’t done so make sure you advertise on http://www.digideep.com and http://www.wetpixel.com .

    Good luck with the sale.

Jonathan…how long did it take you to paddle Cable Cove to Hazel Creek? I’ve done it with an outboard but want to try it with my Native Ultimate.

Get one of these to throw all your gear in. When you leave for camp….just hook up the trailer and go.

I have found that “stability” is a subjective term when it comes to flyfishing and kayaks. I bought two Native Ultimate 12s after hearing all the reports about being able to stand up and fish from them. Well….I can’t do it. Don’t get me wrong…I can stand up in it and cast the flyrod…but I’m constantly having to correct my balance. This causes a lot of “ripples” that are generated by the boat. I’m quite sure this could…and would…. spook the fish.

I’m still searching for that “perfect” platform ๐Ÿ™‚

Did you ever try your scuba photography/videography idea on the White?

Sounds like with your relatively flat bottom canoe….the cradle is unecessary. If a canoe (or kayak) had a considerable “V” shape profile…or a skeg, the cradle might help. I’m thinking when you unload the canoe from the vehicle….lay it upside down on the ground….strap the axle/cradle to the bottom….and then flip over. This would keep the axle from moving while securing the canoe.

Excellent idea though….I need one. Dusty…I may “steal” your Ebay/craigslist idea!

Ditto….I know there is one on the Gibbon if that is not it. It is close to where they rerouted the road and there is a prominent hot spring or geyser close by….can’t recall the name right now.

There is also a similar rock on the Lamar just below the confluence with Cache Creek.
