Yes, we’ve just finished our regular season and today the air has snow in it. Its time to shoot ducks and the roar has started in earnest. CDC, Deer hair flies and venison… just enough to get me through the winter 🙂

DustyDusty, I do plan on having hats, shirts, tee shirts, and Jackets for sale with the logo. I don’t know how soon but I will keep you posted. I also don’t want to make the IA my market place out of respect for Zach and all that he has done here. Perhaps I will put a notice in the garage sell section when they become available and people can contact me about it directly then.

Actually Stu won an FFF peoples choice for the Bionic bug a year or so back.
The eyes are for real. I’m not sure the fish see them though? I suppose its all about fly profile? He initially tied it to skate for steelhead but it just gets such a reaction from clients when he ties it on locally …. and then when fish eat it 😮 😮 😮 😮 ;D ;D!!!!!

I have had my friends help me teach Max (Son) to cast. Its better on his nerves and mine.
Take them fishing, (Not take them… if you know what I mean)
Get smaller gear. I have a 6ft rod that I’ve cut down and its a lot easier to handle.
Flytying is a really fun way to get the interest into flytying. Give them their own flybox!

I used the rod on my 7wt switch last time I used it.
I used it on my 6wt TCR originally.
Its kind large arbour size without the large arbour 🙂I believe the capacity is a DT 8 and 100 m of gelspun. Thats the equivalent size in the MK V anyhow.
Capacity would be 100+ m of regular 20lb backing and a WF 6 at a guess.
I had a midhead spey line on there and maybe 75m of 30lb to pack it out.
Apart from the brakes, engineering and craftmanship, David, theres the finish and for many purchasers the pride of ownership value. Some reels come with history and others might be handbuilt and production is limited.
Price won’t always be a reflection of design or even braking power but desireability.I believe once you use a reel with a decent drag, particuarly in the salt, the benefits of drag and good design will show themselves.
Like Zach’s article I would always try to buy the best reel I can afford and and these are not neccessarily the most expensive.
