So heres a couple of emergers that I’ve been using
One is based on a Sanchez comparadun pattern and the other is CDC.

    Hi Tim
Sometimes its just a numbers game and when that fish is keyed into the top couple of inches, you just have to get as many passes over him as possible and normally right in his lane.

I carry several emergers but like cripples too. I’ll try and post some picks later tonight. Sometimes a twitch or skate and then dead drift in the fishes lane will get the response you are after. Kinda get their attention and then play dead ::) ๐Ÿ˜€

The fish wern’t taking spinners, were they? Maybe spents? Sometimes the take is so similar I get fooled.

Have you fished with Klinkhammers? I don’t use them preferring a very simple CDC pattern but the body profile of the emerger I use is vertical in the water column and has often made the difference.

I’ve also had the most frustrating few hours when fish have been rising everywhere but not for me. Presentation often yielded me better results than fly changes once I was sure I had what they were eating..

    Cool Aaron!

Let me know if I can help out with postage too ๐Ÿ™‚
    Do I send tying instructions?

I tied some BIG double bunny style flies for Northern pike and apparently they didn’t wrap. They wern’t the number one fly out of the box though :-[ Apparently the fish were more interested in a fly 6inches long instead of 10?!
Ties double bunny style and with a bit of stiff nylon tied and glued between the strips, part of the way back would help too?
I love rabbit too and big thick magnum strips give such a good action.

Mcfly foam no question and use kevlar or GSP thread if you can. You’ll be able to really crank down hard when tying.
Really sharp scissors will help too Andrew.

I didn’t think until the last minute but I could have tied a few true NZ patterns. ::)
We have a few flies tied in a “killer style”. I don’t think it was even covered in the flytier’s benchside reference! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I hope I have enough olive to make 10 otherwise I’ll use black.
If someone has a preference and gets in quick I’ll tie to order. I’m hoping to whack them out over the next couple of days though so be quick

    Mark,

I believe it was deemed a 10+ pounder. ย And I’m sure one of your zoo cougars can handle that! ย Nice looking flies. ย I’m excited for this swap! ย I’ll try to get mine all tied up this weekend.

    Cheers,
    Tim

I’d be fibbing if I said it weighed 10 :-X but thanks ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’ve just learnt about the zoo cougar and sex dungeon. They really are great flies for catching bigger browns

I’ve always wondered if the 200m spools etc were the same flouro as the 30m spools. If so it would seem smarter to buy in bulk.

    What are the differences?
    Are there any? ๐Ÿ˜•
Starting with what Bob said about inconsistencies through the length.
