MemberCameron the amount of Shad in this lake (Percy Priest) is incredible. It also gets alot of Hybrid Bass Stocked in it to help control the Shad. It has been called one of the best Hybrid Bass fisheries in the US. Don’t get me wrong it can be a tough nut to crack sometimes but when it’s good, it’s real good.
These fish don’t make the long runs like Striper but they make up for it with pure determination not to come to the boat. Imagine catching 4 to 15 pound Bluegill and you’ll have a good idea how hard they pull. Some of the most fun you can have on freshwater.

MemberTn is blessed with great fishing no doubt. It makes up for the pollen we have to deal with I guess.
Here is a report from yesterday.
Got there around 3:30 and found the fish in a very active mood. At times almost every cast was met by a 3 to 4 pound Hybrid slamming the fly. This went on for about two hours and then it just stopped. There was nothing on the graph and nothing biting. It was as if they were never there. I’ve seen this more then a few times and usually it means you need to figure out which way they went because they have moved for whatever reason and won’t be back. I was in the process of locating them again when an awesome cloud formation caught my attention. It was so cool looking I took several photos of it. In reality it was a warning of what was coming and I knew it, but I thought I saw some fish on the graph so I stayed on the water…. Around this same time the sun was setting low in the sky and it looked as if the woods in front of the sunset were on fire. I took some photos of that too.
About an thirty minutes later I was surrounded by dark brown clouds and lightning bolts everywhere. I decided I best make a run for shelter when the rains hit. The rain drops seemed like they were big as golf balls and they were beating me to death as I skimmed over mud flats in search of the shortest route back to the ramp. The only thing making me drive on and take the punishment from the rain was the ground strikes of lightning all around. I know this sounds pretty crazy but I was enjoying every minute of it. I guess its about as crazy as jumping out of an airplane or whatever other folks do to get a rush. Being exposed in mother natures fury is a humbling experience and something I don’t do often but when I do get caught in it it’s a pretty amazing show to see and be a part of.
