MemberThere is already a pic of an earlier attempt of mine in this thread, plus the recipe. Main difference between the pic and what you’ll be getting is that I hope the ones I sent look better and I used a black/olive hackle instead of all olive.
Aaron, you should be getting mine on Wednesday and I’ll apologize in advance for not attaching tags to each fly. This is my first swap and I wasn’t aware that I should have tagged them with the fly name and my name. But hey, I did take the time to cut a wine cork into small pieces to place over the hook point. 🙂
Edit:

Hopefully you took time to drink the wine too! Not a bad companion to tying flies, I might add

For whatever reason, I’ve collected my wine corks over the years and have a 2 foot tall glass vase of sorts filled to the brim with wine corks (few hundred corks or so). Normally they just sit there looking all fancy in see through glass, but then I decided to cut one up for hook protection. Then recently discovered my scotch corks are great for holding flies after I tie them.
But alas I don’t drink wine while tying flies, Scotch is the companion of Fly Tying for me. 🙂 A nice single malt; either a Macallan 18, Balvenie 12 double wood, Springbank 21, Black Adder Blairfindy 1976 or whatever else is in my cabinet at the time.
Come to think of it, I think I need to do this tonight!

MemberThat’s odd, is it because you posted back to back quickly or because your post was so short initially?
Oh and Aaron, it’s a small thing but it’s Scott and not Scot. 🙂

MemberFlies will be in the mail tomorrow Am. Just got to MPLS. I got everyone a little piece of AZ from the local fly shop (fly box with AZ Fly fishing Logo on it). I stuck all the flies and the boxes in my luggage and one box got crushed. Leonard I owe you a fly box, I’ll get you a new one and sent out when I get back home. Flies are okay, just box lid was cracked into two pieces. Leonard, your flies will return to you in the Plano you shipped your assortment in.
I also, added a few local patterns here I rely on heavily, a mixed assortment nothing special, but go-to’s for me. One particular pattern that I would really like feedback on in your home waters is a Shad pattern I included in all your boxes. They tend to twist a bit around the shank after hookup, but have proven very effective for me anywhere Threadfin are found.
Finally, the fly I tied for everyone (the No name streamer) is four to five inches longer than the fly boxes. It will be included, however outside the box so don’t throw the package out after you remove the box. I throw this thing with a ten weight and it really should be hucked with a 12. (as a warning).
Thanks for making my first swap so easy.
Aaron
PS – no worries on postage.
