here is my take, not taking anything away from the people that are certified and use it respectfully and with good intentions.  Being someone that has been teaching people to cast AND fish, i think the FFF certification could be a good thing but, fishing experience I think can take its place or be just as much qualification.  When I worked in WY for 4 years, I was surrounded by dozens of great guides and instructors and FFF cert wasn’t even in the conversations, nobody is involved or cares to be.  So, i guess I just get irritated when I hear people flagging themselves as an incredible fisherman because they are “certified.”  Not everyone, just some people.  I know of a few people that flaunt that, i dont know if they ever even go out and fish.  I think some people just need a label in this industry to put them at what they think is above the average fisherman, and why?  It is a sport, but its between you and the fish, not for ego vs. ego (except when it comes to gear of course.)  Well, thats just my rant, vent or what have you.  Didn’t mean to mess up this thread if I did.

I am trying to recall how many times I wore my brand new completely empty vest on the ride up to the water and then didn’t even bring it with me when I hit the water.

This could be the best remark and observation from this…pretty funny

    here’s the deal
working in the fly fishing industry for 14 years, we can come up with plenty of reasons to complain about every company that makes road or reels.
