it is a fun fishery…i used to depend on the spillway creek the most, saw quite a few karge fish come out of there.

I haven’t read all these post, but, if there is gonna be a defense about how it is ok to fish for browns off the reds because they are not native, well, the only native trout in this country is the cutthroat, aside from some rainbows from the California strams and brookies in the east.

I am assuming it was Dukes Creek, the non fishing day remark helped that assumption.

I would fish the Madison that time of year, where the confluence of the Gibbon and Firehole make the Madison on down to Barneys and Bakers…great time of the year to fish that.

When I lived out in Jackson, from 2000-2004, most of the people out there speculated that at some point the park, before they knew it would be bad, actually may have introduced this fish to the lake about 40-50 years ago.

    “Dumb Cutties”?????
I would just call them opportunistic on the Snake….I guess Brandon didn’t give up the good spots with the “smart” cutties…..I know he knows where they are!

    Here’s the deal,
I work in the flyshop in Atlanta, there is no science here, we just talk to people, and help them with flies and gear. I worked out west for 4 years in the shop and guiding, and yes there is your fair share of guys that have no idea, but more people do know whats happening than not.

“Too bad about the tackle clerk feeding your son misinformation. ” – Newsman

I wouldn’t say the clerk gave you “misinformation”…it was just his opinion.  And, you should be able to cast the rod before you buy it anyway.  I think for beginners it is easier to use a longer rod to get more leverage and cast further and more accurately.  You can always get a 7-8 foot rod and choke up during certain situations.

I was hoping it to be a lot more technical than that…like you could watch people fishing from a webcam or something….oh well.
